Mike Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 The latest battle is one which could be a tricky one if you don't already have firm views as this time around we have 4 versions all a bit different... All you have to do is listen, that's the easiest bit, then select which one does it for you... The Jackey Beavers Show – We're Not Too Young To Fall In Love Continental Showstoppers – Not Too Young The Camaro's – We're Not Too Young (To Fall In Love) Karen Striblin – We're Not Too Young (To Fall In Love) As always views, takes , reasons, background, trivia, connected/related stories all most welcome... 1
Woodbutcher Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 No contest here , The Camaro's by a country mile ... 3
Guest Polyvelts Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 I love the raucous arrangement of JB
Scootboy Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 Great song,I like all the versions but The Camaro's stole my heart
Guest Soulatthedale Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 Camaro's. Followed closely by K S!
Soulman58 Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 I have played each one three times and decided I just prefer The Jackey Beavers Show other the Cameros.
Steve S 60 Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 I think it very much depends on what mood I'm in. This week I'm mostly liking Jackey Beavers.
Tomangoes Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 All so good! KS has that wailing type of voice I always fall for like Patrinell Staten.. Ed
Guest Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 (edited) All the versions are good. I like the one I am listening to the best! Edited November 25, 2018 by Guest
Jumpinjoan Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Camaro's first for this girl with the Continental boys second, love them both x 1
Guest Spain pete Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 All good to these ears chalk and cheese , chalk j b. Cheese camaros. I go for the messy j b over the mushy camaros
Still Diggin Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 I could never get on with that Karen Striblin version, those backing singers sound like they have fallen down a mine shaft desperatly trying to get some ones attention.
Tlscapital Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Before the internet days I was curious to hear the rare and then "hyped" Camaro's... Owning Jackey Beavers version that I always loved for it's raw, spontaneous and desperate teen plea with energy, I was rather disappointed the day I finally got to hear the Camaro's version which have none of those original characteristics. As for the Continental Showstoppers it leaves me rather cold as it's just not my kind of stuff. But for those who do, it's a well done treatment IMHO. And the Karen Stribbling misses it all evidently. Yet I do know folks who like and even seek that "Lo-Fi" in there. So for different reasons, each of these 4 sides do have their "crowd". 2
Scootboy Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 It would be interesting to get a Lover Come Back poll in the near future,we'll not only have JB vs Camaro's but JB vs JB,too 1
Tai-pan Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 You lil' rascal Mike. Oh so hard, they are all good toones. But the sweet clean lead and waving group vocals of the Camaros just melts the heart strings into submission for me. Nice one. Be interesting to see where it end up. 1
Chris Turnbull Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 Camaro's (just) for me, the first version I heard - had it on a tape from 1991 Yarmouth weekender radio show (Butch?) and remember listening to it totally frazzled on the coach back to Manchester. HOWEVER a very close call, also love Continental Showstoppers, a real powerhouse that the youtube clip above doesn't do justice to. Surprised not more takers for that version - here's better audio to give it a leg up:- 1
Platters 81 Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 (edited) cont show for me...if it was 45s...this is a double as its got a great version of the charades never set me free on flip....................JB also changed the writers credits to NSMF i think Edited November 27, 2018 by platters 81 addition
Bbrich Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 I've got the JB & the CS and have never been able to decide which i like best so voted for CS as it was behind in the voting. would be v. happy to add the other 2 to my collection !
Mal C Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 (edited) Voted Camero’s But I like them all, have stack karen S at the bottom though, that said just listened again, and I like that version too... Edited November 30, 2018 by Mal C
Thfcliam Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 (edited) Contiental showstoppers sounds to me as he is talking it more than singing it in parts. Music sounds good though. Edited November 30, 2018 by thfcliam
Mike Posted December 2, 2018 Author Posted December 2, 2018 onto the last couple of hours and it's currently so close that if you haven't voted yet then your choice may make all the difference....
Mike Posted December 3, 2018 Author Posted December 3, 2018 It's all over now Results go like this... The Jackey Beavers Show 36% Continental Showstopper 23% The Camero's 38% Karen Striblin 4% which means that the most selected version is... thanks to all who took part in the votes and the talk a close result, any views on the results? myself expected the CS version to do better but there you go...
Tomangoes Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 Not that's it's too relevant, but which is the rarest? Anybody got a copy of all 4? Which one got played first? All great versions. Ed
Tlscapital Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 Not so surprised by the general score and the Camaro's 2 extra leading votes (the rarer one). Loving the "rare" soul scene, I have also come to understand that is not always the "better" that takes it all. Although to me it's only second to first and not even on the same 'sides' (lover come back) so not such a big deal either.
