Can anyone help identify this band?

Found this photo of a band in an old Blues & Soul from 1970 with no caption and have no idea who it is.  It's at the foot of the U.S. Album charts and have been through all artists in the charts but can't match with any of them so seems a bit 'random' - so wondered if any experts on here can identify them.

Many thanks ... So it is (before they went all psychedelic & freaky ... which is why it didn't click) - the photo is the same one from the inside of gate-fold sleeve for their debut 'Free Your Mind' - and right enough whilst the album wasn't on the U.S. album chart is was featured as a new release ... but B&S didn't put a caption on photos so was scratching my head!

It was their first album, and I would consider it both psychedelic & freaky, it was certainly very different at the time. I think Angel Dust played a large part !!!!

Haven't heard the album so take your word for it but I was really referring to their appearance before they and Parliament started looking like this!
