Tomangoes Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 Apparently an old Wigan tune? Can't recall hearing it played out very often. Is it getting in demand again? Ed
Guest HutchySoulManKTF Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 No came up in old soul file . Want a copy if not to expensive . Am skint at mo .
Guest HutchySoulManKTF Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 Same backing as Bobby Garrett My little Girl . Or sounds similar . Which is up my street . Try to find variations.
Tomangoes Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Interesting what discogs says about it! They won't sell it, and it had a release date of 76. So I'm guessing it's an illegal pressing taken from a studio tape....but I'm sure somebody on here knows the full story! Ed
The Yank Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 There are two sides to every story- if you read online comments from Sherlie Matthews (Shirley Matthews was a Canadian based R & B Singer) , she says she recorded the song in the late 60's. On the other hand, if you read the liner notes to the Kent CD "The Mirwood Soul Story", the single was "released" around the time a certain SS had access to the Mirwood master tapes- they commented it appears to be a new recording .
Mellorful Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 I thought this record was by Sherlie Matthews (Mirwood fame) not Shirley Matthews (Canadian artist).

Winsford Soul Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 (edited) I always thought it was a legitimate release. I bought one at the Casino on the red vinyl. Great record by the way Steve Edited November 19, 2018 by Winsford Soul 1

Speedlimit Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Hi chalky your correct it was the mirwood Shirley Matthews whom allegedly was the belles lead singer too. There was an article on here in the past about this . And why would mirwood record two artists with the same name .??
