Blackpoolsoul Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 After doing some hunting on the web, I thought I would share this info I found about this tune that had been bugging me for years Scotty Todd was the lead singer for Scotty Todd and The Toddsmen from Benson, North Carolina USA After leaving the music business he became as pastor of Engle Wood Assembly of God in Rocky Mount NC, until resigning in 1989 A few years later he started Benson First Assembly of God in Benson NC. He passed while preaching a sermon in 2003. 1

Robbk Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 Sounds somewhat like a Magnificent Men recording. Not nearly as good as The Radiants' original. The singing is decent, but he had limited voice range. The instrumentation is fairly weak (as many re-makes of Motown, The Chicago Sound, and The Philadelphia Sound usually are). 1
Windlesoul Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 (edited) Scotty Todd is one of my favourite versions. He had a spell with the Soul Six too, covered in the bio I did of them in “Its Better to Cry” https://southernsoulcollector.blogspot.com/2013/11/the-soul-six-scotty-todd.html?m=1 Edited November 12, 2018 by Windlesoul 1
Kev Cane Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 Some great versions, particularly The Radiant, but my fave is The Jordan Brothers Kev 2
