R.I.P Pete Young

The soul world is a sadder place without a true gent and DJ like Pete.

A wealth of knowledge and passion without the slightest hint of a ego.

A very influential DJ in my introduction to the wonderful world of soul music, his knowledge had no boundaries.

Can anybody enlighten me on the music he used at the start of every Soul Cellar please?

They say this is a a big fat town but I know where the soul is at!

Very sorry to hear about Peter Young's death. I used to enjoy his radio programmes, he played a wide variety of soul music. I saw him DJ a couple of times, he was a very nice guy to speak to. He'll be missed.

RIP PY.

The sound of soul city.... Pick up on this! I recorded all the shows in the early 80s. Friday, 6.00 o'clock... highlight of the week! And, for me, the first mention of Kent LPs and all that entailed. I wrote to him once about a record and received a long, handwritten and very considered letter. Thank you PY.

Fantastic broadcaster. Witty, amusing and modest yet really knew about the music he was playing. The Soul Cellar was simply essential listening, but everything he presented was top drawer. A one off.
