Not sure where to post this and apologies if it has already been posted.

Some sad news, someone I've know for a pretty long time on the Northern scene and who some of you may also know, Grant Rankin from Stockport, passed away last night following a stroke on Friday.

I know Grant had been a member on Soul Source for years.

RIP mate.

This is really sad indeed, knew Grant a long time, and it wasn't so long ago I was chatting in the pub with him and his Dad. He was a true gent.

My sincere condolences to Andrea & Grants family.

RIP

Got to know Grant when we were fellow resident  djs at Bearsouls  ‘A Taste of Honey’ many moons ago . A truly wonderful person to spend Sunday’s with and came across to dj  for us at Waterfront Blues and Soul Club . A knowledgeable contributor on here and bought records from him .

A complete shock as was always the picture of good health when we saw him . We’ll miss him lots as will many many others.

A sad day for all those who knew or met Grant. A top knowledgeable D.J, dancer at the casino and most of all a good friend. I'll have happy memories of times gone by at the casino, trips to watch him d.j all over the north west but especially the Southport weekender and 100 club trips. Also the original records I was so lucky to receive from him. Will be treasured forever.

My thoughts are with Andrea and his family at this difficult time . Xx 💕

So sad to hear about Grant, I was with him at the last 100 club anniversary, he was passionate about his soul music ,

he would let you know what he liked " proper northern ",  and he definitely let you know what he didn't !!

Rest in peace Grant.

always remember the first time I heard him play the constellations - oh mary, blew me away and had to find a copy, will certainly play it in a couple of weeks in memory

So sad to hear the news about Grant, I only knew him through buying records on the site and also on facebook, he came across as a lovely Man and you could tell straight away he had a huge passion for Northern Soul, R.I.P. Grant

Like so many others earlier today we were shocked and saddened by the news of the passing of a truly lovely man and dear friend to many on the Northern Scene.  Our special memory of you Grant Rankin will always be there and make us smile, on our wedding anniversary because Pete forgot the CD for our chosen record to walk into and you did a mercy dash to your car and grabbed the first CD you could lay your hands on but I'm blowed to this day if I know what we walked into.  RIP Grant x

There are many people on here and on the scene as a whole who knew Grant for longer and a lot better than I.

However, whenever I did see him at an event he always had time to chat whether he was DJing or not.

This is such a shock and very, very sad news.

RIP Grant.

Drew.
