Pauldonnelly Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Went out for a few in Peterborough Saturday night with those that have done the Wheel thing, and like me had a go at the Tunstall experience and said hello to the early Casino...I guess come 10pm must have been 20 of us talking about a The Lantern, 12 a quid, Bustaids, Alan Day, Tony Jebb and Glen Bellamy at Bletsoe, etc etc etc... One bloke in particular who I hadn't seen for 30 years spoke for most there who suggested that the 'gear' and staying out all night 'blocked' was the only reason why most from these parts went all-nighting the same bloke who hated the records then, now loves what some call the 'northern soul sound' 53 years old and he simply justs enjoy the music...doesn't go to the soul nights just buys one CD each week to play in his car which he sings along too... An English bloke who's been there, worn the tee shirt is oblivious to the current UK SOUL scene who for what is worth honestly believes that The Magnetics--I have a Girl, is the best thing ever to be laid down... While some of us discuss labels, run out grooves, jocks playing cd;s and that venues that resemble sports halls there are many out there like my mates who just "keep on keepin on" unaware of the backstabbing sh--it that has encapsulated our scene.

I'm out most week-ends & can honestly say that I'm unaware of most of the back stabbing stuff. Not wishing to climb up the NS social ladder def helps. As does having a short attention span

I think to a degree you can blame the 'tinternet' and perhaps these type forums for much of crap that said/written......... it's the old a 'little knowledge' etc......... I know a guy who is much like you say, ie been there, seen it, done it, and has a washing line full of T-Shirts!.. Never been 'On-line', does not own a PC, and thinks KR is a good DJ!... he just goes out, enjoys the music and goes home!......... Thats it!!.. And TBH whats wrong with that?. Guest Dodger Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 I think to a degree you can blame the 'tinternet' and perhaps these type forums for much of crap that said/written......... Somewhat more than 'to a degree' I'd say . . . .
Epic Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 (edited) Somewhat more than 'to a degree' I'd say . . . . Personally Roger I've always found you fair minded, balanced in your opinions & always willing to listen to the other persons point of view. Then again... I believe in the tooth fairy, Father Christmas & that one day Wolverhampton Wanderers will win the European Cup. Edited December 11, 2006 by epic
