Hecky pecky, that's going to take some thinking about, easy to do off the top of my head but I know I'd then remember countless others I'd rather have included, time to put the thinking cap on and go through the tunes on the laptop.

Why ... ? ...  it's just another "favourite tunes" thread with a slight twist  "fave tunes I can't afford"  ... another potential mp3 wannabe dj hunting for a setlist maybe ...

I already dj with my collection of original vinyl, ( if you search "hibs club" or "gilmerton" you will find some of my playlists, there are others from other venues as well) i just thought that it might be interesting to hear what other people might listen to on you-tube

Have to confess i don't have a Lap Top, I only use YouTube as a reference when there are records for sale i don't know, listen to my Vinyl Records at home through my Hi-Fi System as loud as i dare risk it, thankfully i have good neighbours Ha Ha, Coz My hearing ain't what it used to be.

Hi Gogs

I spend hours on you tube listening to loads of stuff. Many times ive come accross tunes i have fellin love with and bought on original vinyl. Also its great to be reminded of forgotten classics and i have bought many such records to play in my spots.

From the point of view of records i could never afford check out the fantastic BazFromThe Past videos for some incredible millionaires only Northern All played on his gold plated Technics

Love looking at Juds videos to catch site of old mates dancing including a few of myself over the years , and get an idea of what gets played at a wide variety of different venues

But my fave videos are done by Ian Stacey. These are a mix of Ians own records played on his decks and some fantastic footage of nighters taken from the stage behind the DJ and decks mostly at Nuneaton.Ian captures the atmosphere and buzz briliantly.

Just go to Soul Undergruond press play on any of the podcasts and be treated to some of the most fantastic forgotten or underplayed tunes ever non of which I possess .

The Web can be an amazing resource but I am sick of wading through the dross that people put up and the endless venue videos puts me right off .

Even with the 1000s of records at your disposal you’d still pick a set of over played oldies? Why bother?

The idea of putting this thread up was to see what other people where listening to, and maybe suggestions on what to listen to as that's not happening i'm just going to close it.

Hi Gogs

Two nice tunes there mate.I would suggest wading through the recent Wigan monsters thread, some of the best and worst northern soul oldies ever to be played are up there.

Also the Soul Source records thread has clips of what other guys are listening to and buying.

There's not much in life that's free, but the tube for the time being is free as long as you have access to it, for sure it's fantastic and has been for a long time.

Im not sure what intelligence it uses to pick things for you to watch or listen to when you have used it once or twice, but a moment ago, these two tracks were on the opening page.

Although I saw Shaz at cleggy, I don't own the track.

Sandy is recently new to me, but obviously probably not to others.

No idea why they are on my first page. There is obviously a reason though!

In conclusion, I rate the tube very highly to pass an hour on and learn something new!

Both lovely records - Just in case you don't know this, the other side to 'Sandy Golden - When We're All Alone Tonight' is also beautiful.

Enjoy!

All the best,

Len
