Wondering what people’s opinion is on the rarest UK Sue 45. My top three go like this.

1. Willie Mae Thornton - Tom Cat

2. Elmore James - Knocking at your door

3. ZZ Hill EP.

Indeed, those three must be THE rarest on the UK Sue. Other rare 45s on the label should be:

- Kelly Brothers "Crying days are over"

- Mr. Dynamite "Sh'mon"

- Edgewood Smith " Ain't that lovin"

- Alexander Jackson " The Whip"

- The Baron " Is a blue bird blue"

- Tim Whitsett " Macks by the tracks"

- Ernestine Anderson "Keep an eye on love"

- Joe Matthews " Sorry ain't good enough"

- Lydia Marcelle "Another kind of fellow"

- Danny White "Keep my woman home"

Yes some rare and pricey ones in there. Strange that over the years when collecting I would see two, or sometimes three come up for sale at the same time. I guess that’s the way it goes sometimes.

Yep, sure. How could I forget about Jackie Day. One of the rarest as well.

There are more copies out there.

One sold on ebay in 2010:

Another one in 2008:

Surprised that Danny White "Keep my woman home" is classed as very rare on UK Sue, as I (& others I knew)  picked up copies quite cheaply back in the late 60's.

6 Discogs users claim to own a copy if that's of any indication.

I’m also surprised that Jackie Day is classed as rare. I remember it getting plays when it was still on catalogue. I ordered copies and sold them at school for 15bob - I can’t be the only one doing that

larry williams - strange

great record that has disappeared for sale online and sits  in collections as its a fantastic moody soul / rnb record

lydia marcell  just another kind of fella is an amazing new orleans soul 45

I always guessed that this release was why Gerri Hall didn't get released on Sue as they are both Walter Quezergue latest releases (check nola release lists) and Im guessing Guy just had to picke one.

there is only one or two  nola usa release  45s known to exist of this rare  record -   I have heard a well known DJ in Stoke has a copy.

And the Sue uk release has disappeared

And both of these records have had little Northern Soul exposure regarding plays by DJs

So my opinion is these two are woth keeping once you snag them
