Ivor taking the show to a diffrent level. Move a side the traditionalists, enjoyed the Sugar Beat Rush, Jazzanova and the Charades and of course the superior and timeless "Masquerade". Thanks. Nick

Guest Modern Skip Tone Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Good afternoon Brett and Bully, Enjoyed Ivor's take on our music, I am sure a few will not find it the norm for Shaun's show. I am sure a guest appearance by yourself Brett on the sunday Soul selection Show would be greatly valued and something to think and look forward to in the future. If others can be awarded airtime, I am sure Brett as a person who has earned his stripes, then your around the top of the list. Bully have you warn in then new Bass Wejuns, if so treat with the up most respect. In Shaun's defence I actually thought the Gladys Knight was.....Gladys!! a great little tune - was it Donny Hatherway produced, as I missed the artist. Keep in touch guys. Nick.

I don't think its worth changing that well established avatar of your's!!!!! Just going off the topic of The Solar Sunday Morning Service, enjoying your thread on Uk Bootlegs. Those english collectors are a serious lot, use to travel season after season with two, (both ex Torch and Wheel members) to watch Burnley during the late 70's and 80's. Both were alot older than I and always claimed "Collecting English Labelled Soul Products - Was Harder Than Collecting The US Originals" - Christ for years I had that drilled into me. Then I would agree and then disagree...... . Any views on this fact Brett or a new thread perhaps. Thanks Nick .

Yeah Nick, who knows ?, i have always preferred to collect the US issue, just a personal choice, i believe that to be a first issue, but i have things on UK(once again it's a personal decision, suppose it's up to the individual, no right way or wrong way in my eyes) But i am a sucker for other foreign release soul, i've got Loletta Holloway on Brazilian Black Horse, Jade on Brazilian Joda, something on Lebanese Stax etc. To be honest Nick i think just collecting records at times can be difficult no matter what it came out on.........Did i mention i have Len Jewell on a "Bouvet Island" 7"

John Benson Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Great show Shaun Patti Hendrix - Men (20th Century) 45 This one has been bugging me since the last time you played it... I knew it, but couldn't think why! Now I've remembered - it's on the LP by Barbara Blake & the Uniques - also on 20th Century But the title is slightly changed to "Supermen" and it's more uptempo compared to this one. But both are good really! Also on the Lp you get another goodie called "Patching up the wound" But you probably knew this already didn't you?... Oh, that Marvin track straight after Patti - "God Is Love" - that intro to it just reminds me of something else - but I'll probably spend the next few days or more trying to remember what! Looking forward to Brett - and of course Bob 'The crate' this weekend
Guest soultempo Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Hiya John ... hope you are very well & thanks for the post ... yes u r right, the other version, equally as good, by Barbara Blake & the Uniques called Superman. Agree regarding the Marvin intro. too. And yes, looking forward to Brett's return. One of the most passionate Soulies i have met & always has a few funny stories to tell ... best wishes, Shaun.

Guest Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Zane, Think the last time I spoke to you was on Shaun's show when you dropped Margie Wells's Waterfall (what a beat) on Buddah Records if I recall. I'm not able to download this show on my pc, it won't let me save it in a compatibale file. Any ideas?
