Just a brief short and sweet introduction about myself. I admit I love all sorts of music, soul, motown, ska, rock, big 60's fan... but can't stand today's ear ache music. I've no hesitation getting on the dance floor but ive been very distracted the past few years. The back legs are out and ready to gett moving again.

New Members DLP Posted Wednesday at 17:19 New Members Posted Wednesday at 17:19 I was inspired to join Soul Source after viewing the you tube video of The Plebians (Plebs) in Halifax in 1967. I used to go to this club aged 16 and my mother picked me up at 9 am the next morning. Doors opened at midnight. An old warehouse with stone flags. The back door of The Upper George Pub led straight into the alley way and the club door on the left. I saw Lee Dorsey live on stage. At The Bin Lid in Dewsbury I saw The Fantastics many times, plus Clyde Mcphatter. You just had to dodge the rockers on the walk up to the club who were always lurking around to intimidate, even if you were a girl! I am very excited to join Soul Source.

Hi DLP welcome to Soul Source , hope you enjoy the ride. I have a question that you maybe able to answer , after I watched The Plebians ( Plebs) in Halifax in 67 posted by Rick last night , it was quite clear that the band that was playing was Root & Jenny Jackson not The Impressions . I have never heard of any of their tunes played out anywhere and can't find anything of theirs on vinyl pre 68. So my question is do you have any idea which ( as they where live on stage ) song Root & Jenny Jackson where singing at the time ?
New Members DLP Posted 20 hours ago New Members Posted 20 hours ago Hi Happy Feet, thank you for the welcome. Regarding which song Root & Jenny Jackson were singing at the time I would say 'Let's go somewhere'. However, this song was recorded in 1969 and if the year is correct of 1967 (I was 16 yrs old and the year resonates with the age I was when I went to the Plebs), this song was not yet recorded by Root & Jenny Jackson. I say 'Let's go somewhere' as this is a medium tempo song and looking at the crowd they are not dancing energetically as they would to say, 'Save Me', even though the go go dancers are up tempo. I was not there on the night of Root and Jenny Jackson singing live, although I was there for Lee Dorsey and many other fabulous nights. I believe the year is around 1969. I left for Jersey in 1970.

Thanks DLP , for the response, I often wonder why anyone uploads to say YouTube, & put up footage from years past without the true musical backing , especially when there's a live act obviously playing in the background, still great footage , I'm amazed that nobody has yet come forward and recognised their Mum or Grannie .
