Also tried Blackpool Mecca, The Birdtrap, Lord Jim's, Plebs (Halifax) & String o' Beads (Bradford) but mostly it was The Wheel (Whitworth St) for me & then either The Blue Note or Top 20 on a Sunday morning - I was there pretty much every weekend without fail from 1966-1970. Fab times & I'd love to turn back the clock & do it all again! 2

Ramsgate Ns Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Wow, I’ve got so much to learn!!! My intro to NS reinvigorated my love of dance so I decided to open a venue in Ramsgate and go for it. The locals LOVE it! It’s surprising how many Northerners there are in the English Channel coastal towns. I’m keen to visit other venues as I’m able so will keep an eye on what’s coming up. My deepest thanks to all of you who have welcomed an Aussie into the fold. 3
Soulboy60 Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Hi Ramsgate NS. where is the venue you've opened in Ramsgate?

Stuart Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Hi everyone, just signed up to Soul Source. I've been using the events guide for several years now to find soul nights in the North West of England. I've had lots of fantastic nights out at great venues. Long may it continue. ATB - Stuart 3
Popular Post Ribsy Posted April 3 Popular Post Posted April 3 Hi all I’m Ribsy from Wolverhampton. I’m 67 now so was into Northern Soul very soon after it exploded onto the scene. Sadly I was too young to attend the Catacombs before it was closed but all the sounds coming out of the club would syphon down to the many clubs i could get into inWolves. I’ve been an avid collector for all these years with a very large collection now. Loved the Impressions from the start then obviously Curtis Mayfield. Still get that tingly feeling when I hear something newly discovered or a track I’d almost forgotten. Can’t imagine life without Soul music in it . 4

Devlam Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Hi all, My name is Mark, I got into Northern coming out of the mod revival thing back in the day in East London. I love all kinds of Music, at the moment educating myself about Jazz from the late 50s into the 60s and enjoying the current crop of new Jazz acts. Rare soul is my first love though and I’m just getting back into the collecting thing. Thanks all. 2

Tashhou73 Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Hi finally a member of this lovely website. Thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a vocalist in a soul band call The Notifications. We play a myriad of soul from Northern, motown and modern. My main passion is Northern Soul and I often attend many soul nights and all nighters with my dad. Wanted to be able to advertise our live soul events as not to clash in future. Hopefully see a few of you at a gig soon Keep the Faith x 3
Popular Post Anothergirlx Posted July 21 Popular Post Posted July 21 (edited) Hi Newbie here! I'm an old Cleethorpes Pier and Winter Gardens groupie - from the days of Mary Chapman. Currently selling off my 50+ year old collection I have finally got around to posting some old pics on the album gallery if anyone recognises themselves! I attended my first all dayer at Cleethorpes Pier when I was 15 . I went with my friend Carol and we loved it from the very first record we heard! Being newbies we had no idea about the dance moves and the whole etiquette of the best dancers being closest to the stage . Consequently we had several of the cool guys taking the piss out of our attempts to dance. On our way home , the elderly couple who ran the cloakroom at the pier asked if we were coming next week to the all nighter? I explained that being 15, I didnt think my Mum would allow me to stay out all night. The Lady (who seemed really old- but was probably about 40 ) said " Here's my phone number, tell your mum to ring me and I will tell her you'll both be safe coming" So I got my Mum to ring (on the landline) and yes we were allowed to go regularly and by then we had learnt to dance without looking like puppets and had embraced the scene with a passion! The Pier moved to The Winter Gardens and my mate moved on with a boyfriend so I used to go alone to layers/ nighters - there was always a crowd of friends and the camaraderie was brilliant. Happy days and nights - I doubt there will ever be such a brilliant music scene that can top those wonderful days & nights Edited October 17 by Anothergirlx added to bio 4

My real name is Andy, but most folks online know me as 'Charlie'! 3

Thank you for making me feel so welcome. Dancing gives me such a feeling of utter joy, takes me back to my teenage years at the youth club. I really do just lose myself, it's all so instinctual. Just need to learn the words and the steps and pluck up enough courage to speak to people. Oh and sort out the perspiration. Sooo attractive. Looking forward to next time. With much love and appreciation. Jilly
