Guest Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 (edited) I have never seen a boot/pressing of it. Don’t think it has been done. I have often wondered who Tojo is? Tec is a Washington DC label, that’s as far as I know! Edited April 21, 2018 by Guest

Roburt Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 (edited) Bet Roscoe Bowie Jr & his boys were the backing band ... the song's writer (John Franklin King) has 10 songs registered with BMI but strangely this ain't one of them (but the songs on both sides of JJ & G's TEC 45 are on there) .... PLUS OF COURSE Freddie Perren worked on the session. Edited April 21, 2018 by Roburt

Tony Turner Posted April 21, 2018 Author Posted April 21, 2018 Thanks for the replies. What are thoughts on price for a minty white demo?
Speedlimit Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 Great sound from late casino era originally played as Ann Perry have you ever been in love Dave it wouldn't have a shrine connection by any chance :O???
Bo Diddley Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 Here's a scan of my copy that I bought from Max in about 1977/78 with the card sleeve with his writing on. It was in one of those box's that we had all picked over time and time again and had been left behind after he'd sold the bulk of his stuff. He'd played it at the Cat's ! It still has a little tape residue around the run-out from where the label was covered up.

Bo Diddley Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 (edited) I've always thought it sounded a bit like Carl Carlton when he sang "Competition....". Not saying it is him, but possibly a young singer. Edited May 16, 2018 by bo diddley
Louise Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 As promised , the true identity of Robert "Tojo" Barnes is now revealled, to read his story checkout the article relating to Soul Junctions forthcoming 45 release in the articles section of Soul Source or the Soul Junction website Dave SJ 1

Benji Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Great article. I find Tojos background more fascinating like it was than some famous name moonlightning. 2
