A friend of mine asked me this question, but I couldn't quite answer it. All I was able to say was that they just had to be there or go to an event to experience it like I did. Was that the right answer or is there something more?

Plenty of soul down here mate - hey, think I just got my own musical genre!!

Back on topic. Northern Soul is a journalistic and marketing term used to describe the style of music played predominently in northern clubs in the 70's and 80's.

SOUL on the other hand is a musical style (or "genre" for the pretentious) ......and I love it.
