Jaco Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 JM has Sound of Soul 217671 at £350 and Sound of Soul 5002 (Cameo Parkway distributed) at £450. The Golden Triangle goes for £200.
Nick Hackett Posted November 29, 2006 Author Posted November 29, 2006 (edited) SOUND OF SOUL 21671..is this without the girls backing?? Golden Triangle 101 is without. Is Golden Triangle a later reissue then?? Edited November 29, 2006 by nick hackett
Jerry Hipkiss Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Is Golden Triangle a later reissue then?? Yes, I believe so, not done in the '70's for the NS market as far as I'm aware, but don't know the exact details. Hippo.
Nick Hackett Posted November 29, 2006 Author Posted November 29, 2006 (edited) Ive always prefered the mix without the girls, ive got the cameo parkway sound of soul with the girls and the free angela lp without the girls, was talking to kit (scottish) at middleton, hes just bought a golden triangle issue and saw the same issue on pete frenchs site, described as just as hard as sound of soul label, just got me thinking which was first label etc. Thanks for the help everybody.Any more info on 'sweet sugar dickie wonder' be great nick Edited November 29, 2006 by nick hackett

Hippo. * Golden Triangle is a bit later I think. Have it in box at home can have a look later if any date on it if someone else don´t get before me. think also SOS are styrene whilst GT is vinyl . not sure though its been up for debate before I think. My memory is of goldfish standard sadly

Chalky Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Have seen many more Golden Triangle copys. The Cameo Parkway distributed one is the hardest and seen far fewer of these.
Ady Potts Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 I would say the Golden Triangle copy was released in 1970/71 at about the same time as the Free Angela L.P. Larry Saunders was trying to raise money for the black panther Angela Davis' defence fund, as she'd been banged up in prison.
Nick Hackett Posted November 30, 2006 Author Posted November 30, 2006 Anybody got a label scan of the Sound Of Soul 217671 (without the girls backing) please?
Jerry Hipkiss Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 I would say the Golden Triangle copy was released in 1970/71 at about the same time as the Free Angela L.P. Larry Saunders was trying to raise money for the black panther Angela Davis' defence fund, as she'd been banged up in prison. Thanks Pottsy, that makes sense.
Gene-r Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Have to say that for 1965, it sounds well ahead of its time!
Soulof Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Have to say that for 1965, it sounds well ahead of its time! * anyone has an mp3 or soundfile on the one with backing girls pls ?? didn´t realise it was such a gap b-ween SoS and GT release . are there any other golden triangles (recordrelated ones I mean ) out there or just this and the lp ??
Russoul1 Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Have seen many more Golden Triangle copys. The Cameo Parkway distributed one is the hardest and seen far fewer of these. hi, sold the cameo parkway dist one awhile back on ebay to some guy in japan i think it was about £400. but was a mint - russ
Des Crombie Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 IMHO the one with girl backing to me is the better version, when I hear the other without girl backing it sounds sort of incomplete.
Des Crombie Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 All I've got for Dickie Wonder;- Sound of Soul 5002 1966 Sound of Soul 101 August 1965 I'm confused? Is Sound of Soul 101 not a different Dickie Wonder 45 - No stronger Love? So out of the two Sound of Soul Nobody Knows 45's, 5002 and 217671, which was the first release? 5002 in 1966? Anyone know?
Nick Hackett Posted December 2, 2006 Author Posted December 2, 2006 (edited) I thought the same sound of soul 101..no stronger love. I was told the sound of soul 217671 was the local release then the girls were added for the cameo parkway distributed sound of soul 50024,if this were the case and the cameo dist were intended for a wider/larger distribution why have i only seen demos? Help, girls,no girls, demos, different numbers then a different label getting abit confusing! NOBODY KNOWS Edited December 2, 2006 by nick hackett
Chalky Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 I would agree that 5002 first before a distribution deal with Cameo Parkway struck.
Mike B Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 First chance I've had to do an RA - Here you go - the version with the girls as requested Enjoy Mike Bolderson
Quinvy Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 -->QUOTE(Mike B @ Dec 5 2006, 08:04 PM) link First chance I've had to do an RA - Here you go - the version with the girls as requested Enjoy Mike Bolderson I think that it sounds like children singing "Nobody Knows" on the intro
Soulof Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 First chance I've had to do an RA - Here you go - the version with the girls as requested Enjoy Mike Bolderson a bit late but thanks Mike
Guest Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 I think that it sounds like children singing "Nobody Knows" on the intro It probably is. I think it ruins a good tune.
