It's such a sickening feeling when this happens and is tainted further by it happening among our community whom we trust so much because we share so much. I have had this happen to me, I later found it to be a very well known and respected DJ that has been on the scene for many many years. When I found out, I didn't do anything about it, I felt pity for him. I realised it was not the loss of the record that upset me, it was the betrayal by one of our own. I learned that it's not the records that are important, its the people and our faith in them that truth will always prevail. 14

Popular Post Gilly Posted January 3, 2018 Popular Post Posted January 3, 2018 Pinching records was rife in the early 70s today I think its more the case that a record left/mislaid that most people I know would go to any length to re-unite 45 with its owner, and so that should be the case. Sad that these events happen from time to time, it hurts, its personal, its a no no Hope the guy gets his record back and if someone did take it if you have anything about you then sell what records you do own (legit) and retire from this music we love and share, there is no place for you here. Mellorful Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 The matter should be reported to the police if theft or loss is involved since its a high value item. However, this post is about reuniting the record with its rightful owner, in the circumstance why not post a name and address where it should be sent; if the individual has a conscience he could return it anonymously. Roxie Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 Owner mislaid the record and has been reunited with said record. 3
Mellorful Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 Happy ending reunited and no dishonesty involved. 1

Guest pauly Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Yeh its not nice when recordz disappear but in this case it was mislaid am just pleased my pal has it back as i know what its like to have a different ending
Winsford Soul Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 The said record was in a car that was sold. Record returned safely to one relieved owner. Record was probably worth more than the 2nd hand car. Steve

However, it is very unpleasant to mislay a record and to then suggest, with an apparent air of certainty that someone has stolen it. Other dj’s that had been around and any punters who had been up to the decks must have been thought to be thieves - in someone’s mind. As I said earlier, a little more Care could save a whole lot of bother. 5

Guest Spain pete Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Paid a lot of money for this on e /bay recently, the guy told me it was a rare sought after record , the reason l was delighted that it had been nicked was that l can claim on my insurance so l can pay off my mortgage . 👅😱 19 minutes ago, sheep said: Someone actually bought this then !

Jkvinyl Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 I don't know who the lady is that claimed to have lost the record but if you haven't seen a record for 4 or 5 months and you've looked everywhere you're bound to think it's been stolen. It sounds like it was found in a car that had been sold. I wouldn't have thought she'd have expected it to be there. So I think you're all being a bit harsh. Ps I had a copy of Nat Hall..Why 'stolen' back in 2001. When I say stolen what I mean is that I haven't seen it since then. Anybody who knows me well will know that I am a bit absent minded but will also know that my collection is filed on purpose built shelves in alphabetical order of artists and it deffo isn't on any of those shelves. I know exactly where I last played it but won't say so in case the guys who deejayed with me think I'm accusing them. Who knows it might turn up one day for sale on the net but I doubt it. It was a dished copy but played perfectly and I'd purchased it from Butch a few years earlier(he'd found a better copy). So if it turns up it will stand out like a sore thumb.

But that’s just me. Putting it out there that someone is a potential thief just ain’t cricket. Anyway, I’ve made my point and won’t post any further comments on this thread. 1

I've had a couple of records stolen of me before, the first time i knew who it was, but it was only a boot (Edward Hamilton , Baby don't you weep -Mary Jane). Second time was an original Howard Guyton, I watched you slowly slip away - verve. It's not nice.
