I really dont get some of these descriptions of beer and wine - I just cant taste them. Sweet orange marmalade, pink grapefruit, a heady sense of cherries, apples dew, blah, blah, blah. I'm probably far too common.

Popular Post Amsterdam Russ Posted November 4, 2018 Author Popular Post Posted November 4, 2018 Well, we have bit of an unusual situation when it comes to the "Most liked photo" for the month of October. We have a tie – with two photos getting the same number of "Likes". But (and here's where it's a bit unusual) both were taken by the same person! So, double congratulations to @Winsford Soul for the brilliant close up of a young badger, and for the kingfisher sitting on a branch. Well done, Steve... twice! No seriously many thanks once again for all the likes and comments that are really appreciated. Winsford Soul Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 (edited) Mal. Love the sunset colours and the reflection on the car. Brilliant Mal the more I look at this scene the better it becomes. That's how good I think it is mate Steve Thank you all, let’s up these likes, give steve a run for his money lol Be honest Steve, I take that / these pictures all the time, it’s a staple collins composure:-) you will see it from me many times, just framed differently . Be honest I could not take the pictures you do, I don’t see things as you do, if you know what I mean, have a more editorial eye I guess, and I like silhouettes. Below is the same picture taken in Vancouver, just different framing:/) Edited November 5, 2018 by Mal C 13

Photoshop out the two cars and that's definitely a winner. Not that i have ever used Photoshop or any other editing software. Wouldn't know how to. Your eye for detail has again proved to be able to get the perspective just right. Don't think I could. Steve

The bush is a Pyracantha angustifolia, commonly known as firethorn, an excellent burglar deterrent, and thick enough to deter even the most determined of cats from catching blackbirds and the likes. Vicious and rewarding, a nice combination. 4

Another bush next to this one, but not a firethorn, had a pair of blackbirds nesting this year but something killed the chicks and threw them out, magpies probably but could have been one of the many local cats.

A canny blackbird would nest in the firethorn, about the only thing that would threaten them then is a stoat.
