As 2018 creeps up on us how about a topic looking back at the year that is almost just gone, giving a chance to pass on and share your own ups of 2017...

Best 45 bought, best bargain,  book read , best comp cd, best event, the funniest laugh of 2017,  and so on...

As its holiday mood almost so no great need to be strictly soul related, just a chance to look back and enjoy the highlights

any takers.... ?

Getting  engaged to the wonderful Lou in March,

Seeing John Cooper Clarke in Manchester

The return of Northern Soul to Ramsbottom courtesy of Diamond Des Jones

Having my Grandson of fourteen months living at my house(with his parents of course) while I have been off sick and seeing him develop week on week.

While off sick (I still am, going on eight months) finding how supportive workmates, old friends ,people off the scene have been, it's been a very humbling experience.

Scottish DJ guesting at Farnworth Cricket Club, fabulous set, sorry can't remember your name, dj at Pershore early doors another fabulous set likewise sorry no name but I think he was one of the resident Dj's.

Best 45 - Mad Lads - Sugar sugar / Get out of My Life Woman - I was after this for a long time but I've rarely seen it, until I found it my my local second hand emporium for £2 NM.

Best LP - Larry Ridley - Sum of the Parts - One for the Jazz funkers. Been after this for years too but couldn't afford it, didn't tell the Mrs what I paid for this one but it's a NM Strata East original.

Best TV - Game of Thrones - again.

Just done a check back on events and you are spot on, in my defence there were a number of Scottish flags displayed and the music was  pretty loud, I'll have to tell my mate as we have both recalled the night saying what a brilliant set the Scottish lad played. Cheers

The best do I’ve been to are the Saturday all day sessions at The Soul Bag in London. I had no idea what to expect as I didn’t know any of the DJs but I went along as I was at a rare loose end on their first do in March and it was brilliant. The May event with The New Jersey Connection playing in a small pub was excellent as was the July do. The Saturday Soul Affair in Piccadilly is also well worth a visit.  They’re doing a combined event on 29 Dec which should be good.
