Help two of my favourites.. with any other artists that have covered :

IVE BEEN TRYING...IMPRESSIONS ABC..MAJOR LANCE OKEH..THE FAB PEPS WEE3 & recently heard CLARENCE REID's version.

PROVE IT....ARETHA FRANKLIN ATLANTIC..MARY WHEELER CALLA..PAT LUNDY DELUXE & DON GARDNER on SACK...any others for my listnin pleasure? :D nick

"Ive been trying" two additional good versions.on 45.....Jerry Butler on Veejay(with the super "giving up on love" on the other side... also... Nu Sound Express on Silver Dollar...on LP Archie Bell +Drells "I cant stop dancing" Atlantic...(some nice covers of Chicago tracks on this) :D

..."I've Been Trying" - two more that immediately spring to mind are the Four Gents on HBR (and probably a little Detroit label before that) and the Heptones on Jamaican Gay Feet - which, although reggae, has as much soul in the vocals as any version I've heard.

I must have loads of other versions as I tend to buy them automatically as I see them, if they're cheapish. But these are the only two others that I can think of, off the top of my head, that haven't been covered by Platters81.

If I come up with any more, I'll be back.

isnt there a version of "ive been trying" by the Chants on UK Chipping Norton?

Totally different song, but a great record if you like 70s two steppy sort of stuff.
