Alan Walls Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 (edited) ALDO'S ADVENT FIVES: 60’S NORTHERN FOR DISCERNING DJ’s Maybe this isn’t the wisest sales pitch, after all the recent chat about boring, play-safe DJ’s, too pussy to spin records outwith the same old, same old, but ‘tis the season of goodwill: I live in hope! All are in ex condition unless otherwise stated. All are jolly good and a worthy addition to any decent collection. YouTube clips are not my records, I've included them to let you hear how good these records are. The one's I'm selling are pictured. Please do read the T's & C's and the bottom if you want to buy something, thar lies important info... ***SOLD *** The Sweet – Got To have More Love – Smash £30 a tune that’s lay very much in the shadow of ‘Broken Heart Attack’ , so overlooked in fact that I’ve never seen or heard anyone even mention it, apart from a fella selling a copy on here recently. Like me, he couldn’t understand why such an out-and-out banger could have escaped attention https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLvwWQrXirY The Drifter – The Struggler – Steel Town £25 from the Stafford tape swapper circuit. Presumably not THE Drifters, this is a funny old song that starts off imploring us to have mercy on life’s unfortunates but finishes off giving ‘The Struggler’ in the title a right old slagging for being a wrong ‘un! Flits effortlessly between delicate mid tempo and horn driven stomper. Right good tackle this, on a reliable label https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3F7V3PYK3Ys Charles Mintz – Since I Found You Girl – Up Look £35 Charlie was the voice of The Delegates of Soul and this is a similar sounding, feel-good uptempo dancer that’s criminally overlooked https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNQ2m7vpLAc Jimmy Burns – Powerful Love / Giver Her To Me – Tip Top £80 ‘Powerful’ is a big, bold, bass ‘n brass driven dancer that oozes Chicago R&B swagger; ‘Give’ is an early-Impressions style mid tempo and a tidy wee record in it’s own right. A tough find, this one, seldom seen. As you can see in the pics, the label is pressed a little wonky, but just the label – the centre is dead on, and plays properly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTOWe7ZRFQE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11oY-a_4fkc Roscoe Robinson – How Much Pressure Do You Think I Can Stand – Wand £30 finishing as we started, with an inexplicably under-the-radar dancer from a familiar name on a big label. First heard this on a Manship 60’s newies tape in the early 80’s that had been recycled so many times it was barely audible and the track listing was long lost: it took me years to find out who it was by and longer still to track down a copy, I wasn’t disappointed. Great stuff! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JTJVRdqFaU Usual jive applies: • PM your interest, but please add a comment that the PM’s on the way • P&P is £8 for Special Delivery on Orders over £50; £3 for orders under, via 1st Class Signed For. You can opt out of Special Delivery at your own risk, ie if a record is lost or knackered in the post, you’ll only get £50 compensation from me • PayPal only, and as a gift. Add 4% to the total (inc P&P) if paying as a business transaction • Wanna haggle on price? GTF, they’re cheap enough! Go ahead, does no harm to ask, but tread with caution: I'm selling my collection with a heavy heart, the only bargains you'll get will be by mistake! • Honest Al’s money back guarantee on safe return of a purchase where you disagree with my grading Ok, dats’ dat. Happy hunting and let’s be ‘avin yer! Edited December 4, 2017 by Alan Walls Update
T Dellar Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Hey up Alan - The Sweet record you have for sale was played by myself at the Howard Mallett Club during the mid 70`s. Like a lot of tunes during that era it came from John Anderson at Soul Bowl. I think he had a lot of copies back then. Tony Dellar 2

Alan Walls Posted December 5, 2017 Author Posted December 5, 2017 Thanks for the comments Chaps, good to see the post can stimulate some chat. Wish it would stimulate some bloody sales, though! 1

It's a thankless task trying to sell "lesser knowns" I've got a thousand of 'em, great records but people would rather pay £500 for a copy of The Younghearts 2
Alan Walls Posted December 5, 2017 Author Posted December 5, 2017 When I started selling up I got sound advice from an old pal, not to plug the ‘bigger’ items first, but concentrate on trying to shift the general collection and spice up the lists with occasional biggies and dead certs, to keep it interesting. I’ve pretty much stuck to that and done really well but there’s loads left - high end and collection builders - which are pretty much good stuff, yet I’m toiling to shift them!
