SHEFFSOUL Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 just wondering which are the more desirable LPs containing northern tracks which are LP only or collectable because the 45 is so rare/expensive..obv The Tempests/Gloria Barnes etc what others have i missed? Thanks
Ladymidnight Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 Clyde McPhatter - One more chance and the Freddy Butler LP on Kapp to mention a couple.
SHEFFSOUL Posted October 29, 2017 Author Posted October 29, 2017 thanks..i remember the CM album from the Cleethorpes allnighters...
Greedy Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 The obvious one to me is the skullsnaps as neither im your pimp or my hang up is you were released as singles the my hang up was only ever booted although it looks genuine.. another one is the mighty marvellos as it has a lot of good tracks including your little sister. 1
Douglaschip Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 Season for love - Willie Hutch - 'Let's try it over again' There'll come a time - Betty Everett - You're falling in love Hell - James Brown - 'Lost someone' and 'These foolish things remind me of you' Adam
Roburt Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 Curtis Mayfield wrote dozens of songs that have been played on the UK soul scene, many being on 45's by other Chicago artists (Gene Chandler, Major Lance, 5 Stairsteps, etc) ... in just about all cases, there is a Impressions LP version of those songs.
Frankie Crocker Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Four Seasons New Gold Hits LP has I’m Gonna Change On it. A huge track at Wigan. Robert Knight LP has Branded on it. Not released on US 45 but released in Britain.
Mgm 1251 Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 This one for me... The Righteous Brothers "it's up to you" on the Souled Out LP,on US Verve...
Daz Mc Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Bobby Womack...home is where the heart is has - " something for my head" 1
Enricoacm1899 Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 These are all 70ies/modern tracks I usually play, not northern, but I think they're all only lp tracks: Zingara "I surrender" Damion and Denita "Being alone" Kashif "Vacant heart" (this came out also on a 12" ep) Ace Spectrum "If you were there"
Triode Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Baby Washington - I got it bad (and that ain't good) - United Artists (uk) or Veep (usa) from the album "With you in mind"

That's nonsense. My Hang Up Is You / It's A New Day was released legitimately in 1973 in both the US (GSF 6891) and the UK (GSZ 7). 2
Concrete Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 More than a few tracks on O C Smiths albums most popular of them being Colour Him Father 1
Daz Mc Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Spsnky wilson "easy lover" Dells " trick me treat me"
Julianb Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 I think there are a few on a certain Len Barry LP on UK Brunswick.
Kenb Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 sometimes "i don't answer the exam question" - forgive me if this is the case i this instance...but What, No 45's?: A Selection of Northern Soul Only Out on LP, a collection of two-dozen performances lost in the grooves before Northern DJs brought them to light. Not collectable, but a dozen in one place.

Guest noss Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 From the Japanese Goldwax LP the alternative, and in my opinion better version of Wee Willie Walker's I Don't Want to Take A Chance. Also, the Hit Em Hard soundtrack LP which includes Delilah Moore's It Takes Love. With regard to LP only tracks there are loads of then, Soul Children, O Jays, Maxine Brown etc.
