Sebastian Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 It's on Verve Forecast. Richie Havens - I Can't Make It Anymore / Morning, Morning - VERVE FORECAST 5022
Guest woolie mark Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Hippy it gets worse pete i had never heard of him (most people know him as the opening act at woodstock of course) and i went to the cambridge folk festival (my home town) in 1975 or 76 and my friend dragged me along to see him (twice) doing acoustic sets he was absolutely brilliant, and i've loved his stuff since (particularly, i really like his version of going back to my roots) - he has a great "soul" voice i think his version of i can't make it anymore is superior to spyder turner please don't tell anyone i went to a folk festival
Sebastian Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 (edited) i really like his version of going back to my roots) That's ONE HELL of a nice proto-house tune. Have a listen: https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Richie_Have...To_My_Roots.ram Edited December 4, 2006 by Sebastian

'Goin back to my roots' is an excellent version. cheers Sutty def on folksway , similar setup to the verve bluesway thing its the orig recorded version, what remember reading is gordon lightfoot wrote it and used to perform it regular in NY folk type bars but never recorded it that ritchie h's lp version of roots has recently been re-mixed and released yeah? , sure was this year?
Sutty Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 it was reissued on a 12" but it was the lp version. not aware of any remixes recently but you never know...
Mike Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 it was reissued on a 12" but it was the lp version. not aware of any remixes recently but you never know... have to smile, as think stumbled acros the 12 when looking for lp, sure listened to clip and thought it was re-done and think the listing wording sort of suggested it, so sacked it and went back to lp search, ahh well, never trust my own ears
Sutty Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 heres the 'i can't take it anymore' track in a slightly different mix that i did on my old computer for something to do one boxing day a few years back after the mince pies had run out. https://www.yousendit.com/download/zSIPhQa2bWx5TA%3D%3D
Simsy Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 i think his version of i can't make it anymore is superior to spyder turner Agreed. He may have worn a dress and sandals at Woodstock, but that's the better version.
Len Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 (edited) It's on Verve Forecast. Richie Havens - I Can't Make It Anymore / Morning, Morning - VERVE FORECAST 5022 Come along to The Embankment Club here at sunny Wellingborough This Friday 8th...If you remind me I'll play it...and you can have a jig! DJ's Cliff Steel, Russ Holley, Nicola Anderson and Len...Plug, plug, plug! Edited December 5, 2006 by LEN
Pete S Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Here's a very near instrumental version for you using the original Ritchie Havens track - most of the vocals gone and violins bought to the front. Just for a laugh.
