Pete S Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 Bought a collection and this was in it - Louise Lewis on Skyway - no big deal but I looked it and thought hold on this looks like a demo and I didn't think there were any...white label with very dark blue lettering. Might have something rare here. Then I noticed there was a lot of stuff scratched into the run off and it read "Quality Test Only" - so I think yes, it's a rare test pressing. Then I see more writing which says "Simon S". That put a damper on it, yes it is a test press, but a test press for the bootleg :-( 1
Liamgp Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 Not the greatest idea to have a bootleg made up with your name in the run out!
Pete S Posted October 26, 2017 Author Posted October 26, 2017 I remember Mick Smith having Simon's original Baby Luv copy of The Inticers which had Simon's instructions on the label

Guest son of stan Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Interesting artefact but a terrible record!
Guest son of stan Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 (edited) ...A further thought though, I've had various records over the years where a previous owner, usually a DJ, has scratched their name into the runout like this. Unthinkable that anyone would do that now but seems to have been a thing at one time. Maybe not so surprising when you consider all the sly, dodgy characters around bitd who would steal your records (but that's a side of the scene that's been airbrushed from history...) Mal C Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Had loads like that as well, Rob Pheasant always scratched his name into his collection 45s, he did a brilliant job of it as well...
