Soulsan Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 Hi, what is the place to go in New York for listening to 70ies/80ies Modern and Crossover Soul?
Roburt Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Matt (Mr Finewine) ran a good night on Houston ... mainly 60's though AND I don't know if it's still going.
Soulsan Posted October 10, 2017 Author Posted October 10, 2017 Thanks. I assume there is much more, but where?
Roburt Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Greg Tormo used to be involved with NY soul nights BUT he just moved to Palm Springs.
Soulsan Posted October 21, 2017 Author Posted October 21, 2017 Any other hints? Looking for SOUL in NYC .. 😀
Roburt Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 Is this too soon ... across the board soul & funk (probably loads of recent / upcoming Numero stuff) ...
Weingarden Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 I still do my low-key bar night at Botanica every Wednesday from 9:30 till late. It's at 47 East Houston Street in Manhattan. But as Roburt said, I play mainly '60s (and some '50s and '70s) records: soul, R&B, funk, gospel, blues, ballads, "crossover," instrumentals. No modern. I also do a monthly dance party, mainly uptempo '60s soul, the first Saturday of every month at Friends and Lovers bar in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Generally packed and energetic, and the bar has a great sound system.
