I heard Billy Stewart's fantastic version of this great song on Jonathan Ross today and wondered just how many versions there are of The Knight Brothers classic?

BTW is Billy Stewart on a 45? The only version I have is by Aesops Fables on Cadet Concept 7011, will put a clip up on Sunday, thanks for any info.

Love Virgil Bros on Rare Earth, also heard Shaun Robbins play a nice version by Ed Robinson on his essential Solar Radio show on Sunday mornings

Ed Robinson version on Atco is great. Very different from the Knight Brothers one. I first heard this on a radio show that Steve Davis did some years ago on BBC Radio London as a one off. He played this in a continuous slot together with Freddie Hughes "I Just Found Out", Bobby Wilburn "I'm A Lonely Man" and Nolan Chance "I'll Never Forget You". A great set!

I didn't like that Billy Stewart treatment of it - though I do like Billy Stewart - love the Virgil Bros version though. They were Aussies I think.

Think ya right Pete, dunno how it ended up on Motown?

Like the Knight Brothers, but prefer the Virgil Brothers version

I am suprised at that. Come on guys let's put in in perspective! I always thought it was generally accepted that The Knight Brothers is the seminal version. The others are also very good, but certainly not better.
