Howdy y'all, a couple of tasty titles to prise open your wallets on pay Friday!

Sam Cox – Life is Love / Destination – Renfro vg++ £750 ‘Life’ was Guy Hennigan’s old Randolph Wright c/u - this is the actual copy Guy played out and comes complete with genuine 1980’s cover up residue in the run out groove (at no extra cost, though he’ll probably tax me anyway!) Proper rare, seldom seen for sale and not nearly as widely known as it’s quality deserves, due to it being one of many, truly fine Northern sides that got lost among the Stafford-era tidal wave of 60’s Newies. ‘Destination’ on the flip I paid little heed to in the 30-odd years I’ve owned it until this morning, probably because of Sam’s dodgy vocal intro, but more fool me: it soon turns into a very tidy mid tempo number.

Gil Blanding – Rules / La Ta Ta – Ready £225 looks vg++
both sides play loud, crisp and clear. Both sides have small scuffs in each run out groove as shown in the pics, but do not affect play. Y’all know ‘Rules’, the joyous, swingin’, mid-uptempo dancer from the feller who went on to adopt his Sunday name of Virgil and cut the fine ‘You Ain’t Sayin Nothing New’. Aon the flip, ‘La Ta Ta’ similar snappy dancer on the flip but which has largely been ignored over the years, probably on account of the daft title and twee, happy-clappy lyrics
