Guest in town Mikey Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 What would be the first record you would buy? Money would be no object but I would have to go for: Betty Turner - Winds Kept Laughing, closely followed by Gracie Dumas - The Song of a Woman. Both scarce but not extremely rare. Both records I have always loved but have never seen for sale at the same time as holding folding.
Simsy Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Good shout with the Betty Turner mate. Think I'd go for a Kel Osborne - Quicksand Titanic and a George Smith - I've had it - Turntable ... For openers.

Woulden't be a mega expensive one, 'Willie Wade - Come In To My World' really love that song ! & you get the other side too, but at £400 or so it's still too much for me Sound file anyone ??
Guest smigger Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Otis Lee - Hard Road To Hoe...... Simply can't afford it!!! Seconded. But should that not read Hard Row to hoe? (Sorry if come across like the smart arse that I am)

Guest MissHongkongfuey Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Smigger, I apologise unreservedly. And so do i Smigger!
Harrogatesoul Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Has to be George Pepp - Feeling Is Real (Coleman). Don't know how much this goes for these days. Last copy I saw was at a Hyde allnighter circa 91? would it? Had one in me hands but I was only 17 and didnt have that sort of brass in them days...Hang on, dont have that sort of brass these days either! Off to buy a ticket or two now! Rich
Guest MissHongkongfuey Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 With the change from the euro millions..... i'd buy everything featuring the voice of Margie Hendrix and save enough to buy Otis Lee for Smigger too!
Guest vinylvixen Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Seconded. But should that not read Hard Row to hoe? (Sorry if come across like the smart arse that I am) Hoeing a row....as in gardening...quite correct - but only buying records if you won the Euro Millions - oh no.... I'd buy Cleethorpes and build proper chalets so you don't get chest infections and put a decent sound system in the RnB room plus air con....and everyone could stay for free.... Jo
Wilxy Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 If I won euromillions I think I'd call it whatever I like
Guest vinylvixen Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Smigger, I apologise unreservedly. Ah, the £5 record - in 1985. Perhaps you could build a tardis and go back and buy everything at £5 Jo
Guest Lucy Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 (edited) Would have to be John and the Weirdest for me Quickly followed by Bobby Kline Edited November 16, 2006 by Lucy

Guest smigger Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 And so do i Smigger! Being the rookiest of rookies myself I feel a sense of embarrassment for getting it right
Guest vinylvixen Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I'd buy Hemsby and ban the handbaggers and beer monsters too Good call....I like Hemsby and was very sad when the Motown Weekender was moved to Pressthatin I'll buy the Jurassic Park Crazy Golf course down the road at Hemsby and a copy of Rita and the Tiaras... Jo

Jo I'd pay silly money for top door staff saying.........." you can't come in you handbagger. You may return if clutching a copy of Otis Lee or Rita and the Tiaras for the bosses" Now thats a door policy!!!

Harrogatesoul Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Pretty sure I saw it in a sales box... However in my wonderous sproggy youth I was prone to a bit o leering at what was on the decks. Used to love them Hyde allnighters - Always a good night. ATB Rich

Harrogatesoul Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 What would be the first record you would buy? ============================ Oh and Tomangoes - I Really Love You (Washpan) - THE first Northern 45 I totally fell for when hearing it on a Northern Soul Story LP when I were about 14. I could go on but I fear it will get too depressing! Rich
Rbman Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 ============ I'd buy that fu**in' car park in Wigan and renovate it :-) What with winnie?...new white lines and auto barriers?
Supercorsa Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 After visiting the Estate Agents, Travel Agents & Car Showrooms, I'd buy Herbert Hunter - I Was Born To Love You and Roy Hamilton's - You Shook Me Up .
Pete S Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Good shout with the Betty Turner mate. Think I'd go for a Kel Osborne - Quicksand Titanic and a George Smith - I've had it - Turntable ... For openers. There's a George Smith issue on Craig Moerers site at set-sale price mate. Can't remember the price. Whatever it is, it's too much for that turd.

Whatever it is, it's too much for that turd. $300. The only turdy thing about that copy is the condition - VG+. If I had Euro dough, it'd be a minter.
Pete S Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 $300. The only turdy thing about that copy is the condition - VG+. If I had Euro dough, it'd be a minter. I can point you to a mint demo for £200. Last one I had went for £125 though. Horrible record, the worst sort of thing that Stafford threw up.

Guest Neil-ok Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 ============ I'd buy that fu**in' car park in Wigan and renovate it :-) Sorry to disappoint you Winnie but that car park is now a shopping arcade(getting built at the moment)the old casino ground is in the middle of the pic .
Guest in town Mikey Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I could be wavering. Bobby Kline George Smith and George Pepp..... OOH No I will stick with Betty Turner. A gnats gnad in it tho.
Guest Roccia Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 After visiting the Estate Agents, Travel Agents & Car Showrooms, I'd buy Herbert Hunter - I Was Born To Love You and Roy Hamilton's - You Shook Me Up . My mate (and partner in crime at LTSC) Meni, got both and he didn't win any lottery... My choice would be Paris "Sleepless Nights" on Doc, or Tommy Ridgely on International City, At the moment Pat Brady has got Jackie Day on Phelectron, and Mr. Manship's got Salvadors, Gene Toones, and Lester Tipton on La-Beat on their auctions... I wouldn't dislike anyone of these records in my box...
pikeys dog Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I'd be in no fit state to buy any records after I'd blown my stack on Cocaine and high class Hookers....

Guest MissHongkongfuey Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I'd be in no fit state to buy any records after I'd blown my stack on Cocaine and high class Hookers.... Ahh yes, the Entwistle way. I'd show Robbie Fowler and Merson how to spend the not so hard earned £ by clearing the line! I wonder how much it would cost to buy Jamie Oliver or Duncan from The Bill (the big scottish CID bloke who aint in it now)?? Niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
Jaco Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 We'd have to have The Combinations - "I'm gonna make you love me" and Louis Paul "The change will do you good" for starters.
