Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Not a lot of people know this, but Derek was half of the Top Notes, who did the original version of "Twist And Shout" in 1961. The other half of the 'group' was none other than Howard Guyton! TONE
Guest melandthensome Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Cheers Tony just shows how ignorant I am mate I always thought the Isleys did the original................ mel

Guest melandthensome Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 Many thanks fellas very much appreciated......
Tony Smith Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 And don't forget "Breakaway" on Roulette, magic uptempo dancer!!
Sebastian Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 The flipside to "Breakaway", entitled "Take Me Like I Am", is probably my fave with him. Superb deep soul track. Apart from that, both sides of his "Daddy Rollin' Stone" 45 are hard to beat. But he released a whole stack of good records so let's just embrace them all.
Guest Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 hia all derek martin - "falling out of love" (vibration) awesome record.
Steve Edgar Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 If You Go - derek martin - sue 12001 refosoul Fantastic tune this Chalky, and from the other side "Count To Ten" steve
Steve Edgar Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 Count To Ten - derek martin - sue 12012 refosoul following from Chalky's post with "If You Go" the flip side, which I think is another fine Derek Martin tune... Steve

It was published by In The Basement a few issues ago. Derek still performs in Europe working out of Switzerland where he lives. He was supposed to be performing in Paris soon. Colin
