Maria O Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Ahh... not just me then Marie, Couple of weeks ago had 4 records come through door on same day - had so much to get done and going to a niter that night too, so put aside to enjoy opening and playing when all done.....my other half went upstairs saw unopened packages next to turntable and declared I wasn't normal... No one leaves records unopened when they arrive..... Glad I'm not alone.... Oh, I used to be chronic with unopened boxes . I worked out there are three psychological causes for such a ritual: 1) Storage problems or trying to save your pennies -> It's a good way to try tell yourself that you have enough records, if you have another to open. I improved my ways after I had a special cabinet made and I'm bad again after moving here without it. 2) The buzz is sustained longer when you have 'just one more' to look forward to - then open them at a special time set aside for enjoyment. ...Problem is, a busy life can mean they pile up even when there's no plan/cause 3) I get too emotionally attached to my vinyl (not healthy), so I treat them rough when I take them out and I try not get too excited when they arrive by avoiding opening them too quickly Anyway, I'm much better since I got 'done' on one a few years ago and I've always aspired to be "normal" via justification, so I am! ...and so are you! Pity your not here with the national this weekend, I'm sure you'd have fun playing the stuff you've bought at it I'm playing the sunday which is license to play what ever I like, I think, with just Ady and Alex on the dancefloor no doubt As if I'd get a spot at that annual event anymore Too much competition now and I don't represent a city these days. Besides, I relish to memory the abuse after safe Saturday night spots that weren't "proper northern" - Have fun, stay awake, keep to the programme and don't go upsetting anyone ...again I'll see you early in the new year as I'm gagging for some summer and family (been looking at flights around my future social calender), and if I get the opportuntiy to "step into The Soul Room" whilst I'm in my home city - yippee!!! m

Toodarnsoulful Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 What is this one worth nowadays ? TIA Marc Not sure, got this very cheap as it was badly listed..not in Mint but plays great and sounds top class on a big sound system.. think Manship has a Ex Copy for 200 or 250 something like that... Does it get many spins anywhere at the moment?
Guest uroffal Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 What is this one worth nowadays ? TIA Marc According to most dealers, the issue crediting The Shufflers is valued at around £100 - £150; the white demo (also crediting The Shufflers) is £200; and the issue crediting Jay & the Shufflers is £250 (John Manship has a copy at the moment at this price). Poor condition copies of the Shufflers only credit issue appear fairly regulalrly on ebay and sell for around £50. The Jay & the Shufflers credit is the one I've seen the least often so is probably the rarest. Great record though (and if anyone's interested I have a nice mint Jay & the Shufflers credit issue that I'm happy to take offers on )
