Zoomsoulblue Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Crying over you - Andy / Did the Duke get any royalties from the grapevine pressing - just out of curiosity - any history who found the record, who first played it - epitome of Northern Soul - beat, rare, clapping bit, spinning bit, unbeatable start and soulful - Legend much respect. 2
Popular Post Koolkat Posted May 4, 2017 Popular Post Posted May 4, 2017 Yep. I agree. Just an amazing record. How anyone can put together a tune and lyrics such as this is wonderful. How would you start to imagine all this in your head? Then to carry out the vocal too...........file under A for Awesome. 4

Torch/Cats/Early Mecca sound. Hard to say which one first, but if I was forced, I'd say Pep at the Cats, maybe with a little help from the London lads Dave Rivers et al. If not probably Ian at the Mecca.
Benji Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Here's a link to a thread about Duke on SoulfulDetroit.com: https://soulfuldetroit.com/archives/624/48.html?1008662171 Even though he released only a few (2?) records, he was a prolific writer and producer. Unsung hero. 1
