Guest Lady Maverick Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Wild Honey - david ruffin - motown 11166 refosoul From WHO I AM...recorded from my vinyl LP...I had to cut it short unfortunately because it was very scratchy at the end...thank goodness that Hip-O-Select reissued this recently (The Motown Solo Albums Vol. 2)!
Guest Jimmy Scriv Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 I've just tried to sell a British Demo of Heavy Love, from the album Who am I, on Ebay starting price £1.99 and no takers!

Do you happen to have a scan of that? My copy of WHO AM I is very scratched up due to relying on incompetant (sp) folk to help me move! That's one of my favorite cuts on the album!

Cheers Paul Hi Paul! I have the UNRELEASED CD and I enjoy it, especially love OUT IN THE COUNTRY! Vol.2 is on rotation in my CD player...I haven't gotten past the WHO AM I recordings as of yet! Vol.1 I still play...I love the 60s albums!
Guest Lady Maverick Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 (edited) The unreleased tracks on DR Vol.2...it's a wonder why these weren't released in the first place! The lyrics and titles seem to be autobiographical...when I get time I will upload them here! WHICH WAY TO MY BABY was also covered by Dennis Edwards and MANNEQUIN by the Temptations with Paul on lead. Edited November 7, 2006 by Lady Maverick

45cellar Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 (edited) Roger...great clip! The second one says that it's no longer available. Hi You're right, It was OK yesterday when I posted the link. It has been removed in the last few hours. That is the second time "Walk Away From Love" has been removed, Shame, they were both great clips. However, I've found another, which should work this time. My Whole World Ended (The Moment You Left Me) However, I've found another, which should work this time ----------------------------------- Walk Away From Love Edited November 8, 2006 by 45cellar
Guest Jimmy Scriv Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Cheers Cunnie I will be relisting soon. I was suprised It didn't get a bid when at the same time I sold other Motown discs which I thought were inferior to this. I never get tired of hearing David Ruffin tracks.

Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Heavy Love - david ruffin - motown 11173 refosoul As promised... Fine as David's version is, Faith Hope and Charity's original 1973 version on Sussex mashes it to a pulp IMO. But Ruffin and Van McCoy was a musical match made in heaven and the albums they made together are among the best of either man's career... However, for my money, David's best solo recording is "I Saw You When You Met Her" from the "Me And Rock 'n' Roll Are Here To Stay" album. Best listened to with all razorblades and knives hidden away.... TONE

Macke Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Hi guys, on the subject of early David Ruffin. Just bought a copy of "Action speaks louder than words" on Check-mate on E-bay the other day, but the flip is "Hurry Mr Bus driver" ??? It's a white label, 1003. Have I been booted? Seller says it's original U.S pressing. Marc Forrest> Great set at 100 Club last weekend by the way! You also mentioned Action/Hurry earlier in this thread. Can you shed any light? Manship has it up with "You Can Get What I Got" on the flip but that's not a white label. I'm confused... Thanks for any help! Marcus
