Peter99 Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Well at least they think the music is cool. I don't have a problem with it. I never really liked the Franki Valli record though. Pete
Popular Post Davenpete Posted April 29, 2017 Popular Post Posted April 29, 2017 Looks like Huggy Bear, Bootsy Collins and Wigan's Ovation got together to do a clothing line for My Little Pony. Dx 11
Amsterdam Russ Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 (Added a comment in the Video Bite section & now seen this thread, so reposting here…) Oh, my God! What have they done? And just wondering - have they added a drum machine over the track to emphasise the 4/4 beat, or is it a remixed version?
Mr Fred Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 (edited) As already said superb music, however the music and the clothes don't go together. Might also send out the message that us Soulies dance and dress like that .It also shows that you can't manufacture our scene. Regards Fred. Edited April 29, 2017 by Mr Fred
Steve S 60 Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Naff clothing range launches naff advertising campaign.
Popular Post Zed1 Posted April 29, 2017 Popular Post Posted April 29, 2017 Hey Man!. Can you play that Julie Andrews - Just lovin' you?. 6
Woodbutcher Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 You ought to check out some of the audition tapes ... 1
Supercorsa Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 At last a positive post amidst a sea of negativity. 2
Popular Post Woodbutcher Posted April 29, 2017 Popular Post Posted April 29, 2017 All you need do is pay them as much as Gucci did and I'm sure they'll come to your do ... not sure how the rest of your punters will react to a genuine "rentacrowd" though ... ! They are on that video purely because it's a modelling assignment , it's their work pure and simple , if they were told to dress up as astronauts and jig about to a Bay City Rollers track they'd do it , not because they are BCR fans but because it pays the rent , period. Can't wait to see Gucci's take on Spencers and vests in the autumn collection though ... lol 9
Guest MBarrett Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 I always like to see young people enjoying this music. Agile and light on their feet. OK many on that film will be mercenaries. But the girl in the red outfit (long skirt) is known on the UK scene isn't she? If it's the same person - I'm always hugely impressed with her dancing.
Davenpete Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 "Can't wait to see Gucci's take on Spencers and vests in the autumn collection though ... lol " Paul Smith already did that 25 years ago for the japanese market. Dx 1
Tomangoes Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Looks like a lot of fun. Is this how they dress at the Italian soul nights? In terms of costly gear, a made to measure suit with all the bells and whistles, back in the day, made gucci look like primark. At least a months wages for an apprentice. I'm sure I've seen kit like that at the 100 club:) Ed 1
jimmy clitheroe Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 Think they look great , no comparison to your average soul night .. no brainer for me 👍

Martyn Pitt Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 I thought that looked brilliant ... reminded me of the old 60's & 70's Soul Train clips on YouTube. 2

Popular Post Tim Smithers Posted April 30, 2017 Popular Post Posted April 30, 2017 (edited) Well I think it's quite cool ( apart from the choice of tune ) to be honest I would much prefer to be in a club with people dressed like this, rather than 40" baggies ( waist and width ) mind you any one who watches this and say's to themselfs " I'm gonna have a piece of this " is in for a shock when they walk through the doors of the local northern night at the British legion 👀 Edited April 30, 2017 by tim smithers Missed word 6

Tomangoes Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 I'd also like to see how they keep up the pace after 8 hours of it.....unaided. Those in the 40inch baggies top and bottom, at least try and work through the whole night at it! Ed
Popular Post Sunnysoul Posted April 30, 2017 Popular Post Posted April 30, 2017 Well it will surely warm Jazzy B's heart to see a northern soul club full of black people ... 4
Guest Max Morrison Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 How it could have sounded, tho the original was brilliant, i've added a couple of tweaks ;)
Russoul1 Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 (edited) primarks new grey check range advert....designed for improved floorwork techniques Edited April 30, 2017 by russoul1 2

Stateside Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 Couldn't agree more. Who cares what anyone wears. If this could attract a whole new generation to the music we have loved for over 40 yrs then that would be fantastic. It would also mean that our valued collections would still attract collectors. Steve S 60 Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 People, the dancers in the video don't own the clothes they are wearing. The fact that it's promoting Gucci is a bit of a clue. 2

Popular Post Winsford Soul Posted April 30, 2017 Popular Post Posted April 30, 2017 Since when has a predominantly white working class scene become a predominantly black ,Gucci wearing . Bootsy Collins lookalike scene ? Yes I know it's only a advert but surely someone of Gucci standing / resources would have got decent researchers or I'm I missing a point. Steve 10

Popular Post Andy Rix Posted April 30, 2017 Popular Post Posted April 30, 2017 I contacted the son of Duke Browner today about the Gucci promo ...... I've tried to talk to him for a number of years about collecting royalties but he does not seem interested. he is very polite but that's as far as it goes. he said he has no 45s and no master tapes I will keep on trying to touch base with him if only to see that Duke's wife gets some money Andy 13

Frankie Crocker Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 This is a real head scratcher. First, the advert teases us up the stairs inside The Casino. The dance scenes have been choreographed in the way they were on the 'Northern Soul' film. The dancers know what they are doing and seem to be a mixture of Europeans and Americans drawn from a selection of soul scenes. So, there are some Northern dance movers, a few funksters, a couple of break-dancers and some acrobats. The Night is really a pop tune best filed next to The Snake, rather than a serious Northern dance track but some will quibble with that as it was played at some awesome venue... Personally, I liked the show but I would not be seen in Gucky clothes even if they were giving them away. Anyone know any of the dance crew?
