Two recent SS topics aligned like the planets for me today!

1.       Northern Soul and Age in 2017 - Carry On Regardless?

2.       Yate, Just A Distant Memory ? (original post 2006)

Which got me thinking…biggest regret?

What’s yours? It's maybe that '"i wish i would have momemnt" or records, people, artists, venues, visits, events, lost a record, sold one,...

Mine is missing out on some of the great records played at the post M/T/W era. Many of which were played out by DJ’s (who also feature & contribute as members on this site) at other venues around the UK.

Not music related but happened at the Casino. 39 years ago I  was meeting my then girlfriend there and happened to take a friend to the Casino who had never been before. Who just happened to be a girl. When my girlfriend who was waiting on the stairs to the balcony saw me with this friend she just walked off . I never ever saw her again even though she lived in my home town of Widnes . I would give anything to explain to her what really happened even after all this time.

Not soul related. Ending my relationship with the girl I now know was my soul mate - never really adjusted to life without her and never been in a serious relationship since. Biggest fcuk up of my life.

I wish I would have had the nerve to talk to the Motown old-timers and ask them about their pre-Motown days and the early years at Motown, while I worked there.

Hiya, no regrets, lived a great a manic life.  Always skint, been so poor at times but it's been fantastic, as my 70 odd older brother said to me recently ' pete I know I have properties, money etc but you have had a fantastic life while I was trying to build mine' of course I have missed moments but not regrets (liar)  Carl Carlton- backbeat 6 or 8 quid ? No thanks another round, constellations 10 quid and my favourite missed chance was back in the seventies  and I still love the record ' good times on lamp- my comment at the time ' what a great soulful  tune but the beat is a bit too ska like, it will never catch on'   I have / had/ may still have and I'm sure ? It was on a casino tape ?  Cheers

Being off my head on some dodgy chemic or other at the Ritz alldayer when the Ric Tic review was on spent allmost the entire show locked in the bogs with the screaming abdabs . Think I may have caught a bit of Al Kent all a bit hazy ( drugs are bad )

Presume it was a good show and missed something special :(

If your lass sees that, your biggest regret will be that post, she punches pretty hard :D.

Selling records for around the £200 price range and then 5 years later there are going for £500+ :(

I have nightmares about the Topper label in particular as I had a large batch of them.

Missing the last night at the casino, missed the train .

Last nights at the Casino were like trains.  Don't worry if you miss one, another one will be announced shortly.

I should of spent a lot more money on the Soul Bowl lists in the 70's instead of wasting it on other things!

not taking a camcorder to the 80's grt yarmouth weekenders and capturing chuck jackson, ray pollard, maxine brown,hb barnum, tony middleton, eddie parker, and many others on film, because i am amazed that there is no footage in existance of these early mega weekenders!

There is some out there, just getting hold of it.  Pete Hollander took some for one.

Never mind the bollocks old lad. Decimalisation was introduced on 14th February 1971 - so you're a year out there. As for the working out I didn't do that - this site did -  https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/bills/article-1633409/Historic-inflation-calculator-value-money-changed-1900.html

Just put us a pint of what's good in your local on the bar Kegsy!

Giving in (so many times in the old days) to Paul Temple's constant bickering to sell him this or that 45 or UK LP . . . . it was easier in the end to let the rekkids go than to have to listen to him asking over & over again.

NON REGRET . . . . being the age I am. This allowed me to be around 'on-the-scene' (mid to late 60's) in the golden age of UK soul (mod) clubs AND to see so many great artists live in their heyday.

Selling most of the big tunes in my collection (Total value achieved £4000) in 1980 to put a deposit on my first marital home......

10 years later when I was getting back into collecting I worked out that the value of the records I let go would have bought the house I was living in outright twice over !!!!!!       Should have kept my collection and taken out  a 100% mortgage from the start instead :(

many years ago at a market stall, I bought -send him back- for a quid, that was all I had on me at the time, I passed on- I`m standing- ex+ stateside issue for the same price as for some reason I thought I`d already got a copy !!!
