Trailer - Detroit '67 film - 12th and Clairmount

Detroit Free Press website is running a news item of an upcoming new documentary about Detroit's summer of 1967

The film is due to make its world premiere at the Freep Film Festival on 30th March 2017

'12th and Clairmount' uses home movie footage from Detroit residents and examines the cause and aftermath of that infamous Detroit summer 50 years ago.

Drawing from more than 400 reels of donated home movies from the era, the documentary is being produced by the Free Press in collaboration with Bridge Magazine and WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) and a group of metro Detroit cultural institutions, led by the Detroit Institute of Arts.

The film features the events that occured @ the Algiers Motel, where 3 young blacks were rounded up & killed by over-zealous National Gaurdsmen / local police. ALSO at the motel that night were the Dramatics who had escaped back there after a big local gig ....
