Guest mrsidno1 Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Hi all, I have a question about Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons – The Night. I have it on 7" vinyl, i believe it was the 2nd issue from '75, as its stamped 11-3-75 CB GF PS on the outro despite having 1972 on the label. The catalogue number is Mowest – MW 3024. However, my particular copy haspresumably mistakenly got 'The Night' YMW 3024A 45 label on BOTH sides - even though the B Side plays as 'When The Morning Comes'. Is it worth anything?
Geeselad Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 sadly pal, items like this usually fetch less than a standard issue and are intrinsically worth less to collectors.
Thecivilservice Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Maybe a few quid more to a 'the night' completist... the Night on mw3024 is a charity shop regular, I stopped buying them a few years ago because i had so many copies and you can pick up a copy at almost any record fair for a fiver but they do sometimes sell for more on ebay
Thecivilservice Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 When ive sold them before the Motown seems to go for about the same as MW3024. So maybe 10-20 on ebay
dthedrug Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 HI ALL....My first copy come from CONTEMPOS in London in 73, this was the 1st issue stock copy. In 74 it gained plays at WIGAN CASINO, by then the UK stock copy had been deleted, however SELECTERDISC had US copies in stock, EMI had almost given up on the TAMLA MOTOWN output in the UK, most releases were reissues of 6s hits, some with unreleased B sides, however they spotted that "THE NIGHT" was popular, it was given a new release status hence the number change, the record become one of MOTOWNS big sellers of the mid 7s. When EMI got rid of the TAMLA MOTOWN label to RCA the 45 was released with the old black TAMLA MOTOWN label. I would value copies of the NIGHT as :- RCA-TM copy,£15, EMI-MOWEST 3024 2nd issue £1, 3024, 1sided DEMO £25, release date (27-3-75). EMI MOWEST 1st ISSUE #3001 £50+. DEMO? (I do not have a demo of 3001 so no value from me, however I do have a BLANK LABEL copy of 3001 which a £100+ value can easy be achieved as a genuine UK rare soul sound, however be aware that the copy you buy is not a 3024 copy with the labels removed??/..KTF.
none Posted September 22 Posted September 22 When did it get released on Rare Earth. Seen it on YouTube and thumbnail images on Google. Yet not listed on discogs?
Bo Diddley Posted September 22 Posted September 22 They are the German and Dutch issues with the picture sleeve. I have a Dutch one. Released in 1972 according to Discogs https://www.discogs.com/master/1306458-Frankie-Valli-The-Four-Seasons-The-Night
