I don't think that much to the overall song, but the intro to The Ambers "I Love You Baby" is my fave intro to a NS tune.

Yours?

Would've said Potion of Love has a much better intro myself. Dx

Lou Rawls - Dead End Street. Perfection in opening up a record to burst into organismic perfection

Have a glance over some of my posts and I blunder about all over treading on toes and trying to teach my grandmas how to suck eggs, and I'm not so new

On topic I'm another that would put Ambers Potion Of Love right up amongst them. In fact the whole record is just superb.

Its got to be "Open the door to your Heart" Darrel Banks. Gets me every time and that's after 50 years of listening to it countless times. Wish I could think of something more original!

For me, I prefer Doni Burdicks' version on the grounds that the brass in the intro is sharper, the vocal isn't quite as good as DB but the intro is better imo.

For pure in yer face kick ass excitement it's gotta be hard to beat Edwins' 'Time', intro is almost identical to the start of the theme tune to 'Enter the dragon'.

There's so many great intros in Northern it's hard to pick a 'best', Shirley Ellis is pretty good, Magic night is epic, Flame n King intro is pretty good, I'm going to reserve judgement on what I think is the best one...

Two very simple and short intros

Giving that let's dance feeling

Check them out

Nolan Porter       If I Could only be sure

How about "Sweether Than The Day Before" - the Valentinos, or "Going To A Go Go" - Smokey Robinson and the Miracles. There's so many.......

All these tunes back to back would have the floor packed all night at every event

I go way back, any 60s Stax or Atlanic  come to mind guys

I'm 68 still living for the weekend and traveling all over the country

As they say ' It will never be over for me'

Just some of my favourite intros...

Buddy Miles & California Raisins-What Does It Take

Majestics-I Love Her So Much It Hurts Me

Soul Bros Inc-Pyramid

I could go on but that's what springs to mind

Joe Hicks - Don't It Make You Feel Funky

Frank Beverly - If That's What You Wanted.

Ted Taylor - Somebody's Always-

Barbara Lynn - I'm A Good Woman

Delrays Inc - Destination Unknown

I love a distinctive or dramatic into. It doesn't hurt to revisit this type of thread as new members join and also tastes change over time:thumbsup:

When That Beatin' Rhythm was first played it was the epitome of our sound.

Great spoken intro followed by the Mirwood Beat. What a combination!

I think the whole song is great, not just the intro!  Good old Horace Ott strikes again!

Patti & The Emblems "I'm gonna love you a long long time" does it for me. Class floor filler if I ever heard one!

One or two bars & the floor was packed.
