I read about Leon Ware's passing on Jack Ashford's Facebook page this morning. I don't know any more details. Great artist.

Genius, anybody who was anybody at some point enlisted this man to enhance their own project knowing it would give them the edge, also a great performer in his own right on his own projects, multi talented hardly describes the mans attributes, going to play the "Musical Massage" set today

R.I.P. Leon

I first was aware of Leon when I bought Marvin's "I want you" LP - What an introduction to music !! Everything I heard of his output was great. Truly, Such a talent !!

In fact when Marvin heard the songs Ware had written he's quoted as saying 'Strangely enough, I feel as though Ive written these songs myself !"

Rest in Peace

My first introduction to Leon Ware was his "Undercover" album from 1987, which at the time was getting plays on Radio Clyde (!) From there to Marvin and no looking back. The Expansion collection of his songs as performed by other artists gives some idea of the contribution of this man. RIP.

I feel gutted at this news.  During this week I had been thinking about who is left from the 60s-70s with Leon still forward looking and active.  I always looked out for anything he was involved in and tried to obtain his own works over the years.  Huge thanks for his contribution, often inside the release name of others.

Very talented guy worked with most of the greats Marvin Gaye and Bobby Womack etc

"In our garden" a perennial favourite as well as the sublime "Rocking you eternally"

An under-rated talent perhaps overshadowed by the "bigger" names he worked with.

I hope this might be of interest to some -  just to show what a thoughtful and interesting guy he was too.

RIP Leon Ware

so many great songs from the man , will be playing something of Leon's at the charity soul all-dayer  Harrogate . finally got to see him in Manchester at the Band on the wall a couple of years back. such a cool guy , he had Bluey from incognito as his m.d .  wonderful night . love the show he did in Amsterdam with Carleen Anderson , often find myself watching a few songs from that when i'm on youtube . as with all the legends that leave us , wont be another along any time soon.  r.i.p Leon

Another very sad loss. Have really enjoyed his music, one of my faves among so many tracks "That's why I came to California"..Was only listening to it the other day feeling uplifted with memories of just the one trip to LA so far. RIP Leon.
