Kenb Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I was playing stuff today, and pulled Bettye Swann 'Kiss my love...'. Noticed (once i put the clock on it) it's 1min 40sec (out of approx 3 min 17 sec) before the title 'Kiss...kicks in'. Made me think, there must be others out there-and probably one that beats this easily. Sorry if this has hit the threads before. If not, any thoughts?
Mick Holdsworth Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Barbara McNair - "Anonymous". (It's on a BM Comp CD a few years back) - Still waiting to hear that line, up till now probably 7 years.
Pga1 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Hiya, here's one to get you started - Corey glover- little girl, off the top of my head, Not played it for a while though, cheers
Steve S 60 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 (edited) Ordinary Joe - Terry Callier. You'll have to wait almost 3 minutes (2.57 to be precise) before he mentions the title. Mind you, the song is 4 minutes 10 seconds long. Edited February 10, 2017 by Steve S 60 1
Mick Boyle Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Fortson and Scott - Sweet Lover For some reason the title don't get a mention
John A Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Calvin Grayson, Love just begun. Title not sang till the end.
Zoomsoulblue Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 not as good but good as a starter 51 secs

But if you listen carefully, the bvs go 'lend a hand' before the '..to this lonely man..' lines and many other of the lines in the song. Also various other asides, low in the mix. I think they mixed it a bit wrong. Edited February 12, 2017 by son of stan
Guest Andi Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Not a soul record, but I think that the one that will beat all, as the title comes right at the end, has to be Roxy Music's "Virginia Plain"

If anybody can hear more, and clearly, I'm jealous! Must be the worst choice of title from all the words mentioned, and its an ABC production!. One thing for sure if it was 'booted' it would not be titled 'lend a hand' Ed
Pete S Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 Anyone said The Capitols - Don't Say Maybe Baby - I don't think the title comes in until the very end

Pete S Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 Lend a hand to this lonely man...first line isn't it? 1

No. The first line is 'Way- hey!' Shades of Eric Morecambe as I think it said on the back of a Kent LP back in the day. :-) It's a call and response song isn't it? Hutton responds to the lines sung by the backing vocalists. Quite unusual. It was off an LP right? I don't suppose whoever mixed it ever thought it would be heard of again, let alone that we would still be discussing it 45 years or so later and just did a bit of a rushed job before heading off down the pub...
