Mint apart from some label discoloration. Visual grade: EX £300 Clastyle – How close / Remix – Kingdom Rare as hen’s teeth killer boogie track from Louisiana. Visual grade: Strong VG £250 Thunder, Lightning & Rain – Super funky Pt I/II – Saadia 1609 Deep funk on the legendary Miami label. If it turns up, which is not that often, it’s usually beat up but this is the cleanest copy you’ll ever see. Visual grade: M- £220 J.C.M. and The Cosmonauts – This is my hour Pt I/II – Hope 101 Totally unknown instrumental funk 45 with a deep break and a cool arrangement. Quite possibly your only chance in a lifetime to pick this up. Visual grade: VG £200 The Ballads – We know / This is magic – Tina 102 Firme mid-60s Philly roller. Very elusive, even amongst serious collectors. Visual grade: VG+ £200 Westpoint – High steppin’ / Come and get the love – Hitmaker 1027 Seriously tough to find boogie killer in top condition. Visual grade: M- £180 Little Gigi – Take the bitter with the sweet / I’m hurt and so is my heart – Soul 102 New Breed R&B and a sure shot dance floor filler. Tricky to find on the first label. Clean and probably not played very much at all but there’s a small damaged area in the run in groove that could develop in a crack if treated without care. NAP of course. Visual grade: VG+ £170 Lola Sands – To whom it may concern / Faded love – Bison 001 Clean copy of this northern girl dancer. Visual grade: M-, warp NAP £160 Eddie Holland – But it’s alright / I don’t want to cry – A Talent Attraction 302 Sixties dancer and apparently a recent 100 club spin by a guy from North Carolina who just happened to go by the same name as the Motown legend. This one hardly ever turns up and the pic sleeve is even harder to find. Visual grade: sleeve VG vinyl EX £100 The Feminine Touch – Groove me / All kinds of people – Fem-Touch 10423 Driving Florida crossover rarity. Very clean copy. Visual grade: EX £100 Sunny & Phyllis – I’ve got something on my mind / Forever eighteen – Zuma 655 Rare alternate version of Phyllis Brown on LeCam. Mint except for a sticky spot on the flipside label where a sticker was removed. Visual grade: M- £80 The Defaulters – Gentle man / Disco Dennis – P.D.J.S. 7926 Deeper than deep eerie Ohio sweet soul cut. An absolute personal fave. Visual grade: EX £80 Joey Dee’s – Your love / I got to have you – Me-o 222 Lesser known release on this legendary but it’s a beautifully produced and arranged rarity that cuts deep. Visual grade: Strong VG+ £60 Leshada – We are the children / Instrumental – Leshada 100 Spiritual 80s So-Cal sweet soul. Visual grade: VG+ £60 Billy The Kidd & The Prisoners of love – Ghetto car / Whiteclouds in the sky – Brubell 101 Raw DC funk that usually fetches three figures. Visual grade: VG+ £60 Zig and Gaboon’s Gang – Let’s get fired up / same – Orleans International, Ltd. 001 Super obscure 80s boogie jam. Zig is Zigaboo Modeliste of Meters fame, which increases the awesomeness of this 45 by at least than 70%. Visual grade: EX £60 The Edwards Generation – Thats how much I love her / Starlite starbrite – Tight 301 Mid-70s Cali funk with two cuts from the sought-after “Street Thang” album. Visual grade: VG+ £60 The Relatives – More time / Lenient with my love – Archway 831 Bay Area sweet soul harmonies and unfortunately the only 45 ever cut by this group (unless someone proves me wrong, I sure hope so) Visual grade: Strong VG+ £55 Chet Ivey and his Fabulous Avengers – Dose of soul / Get down with the geater – Sylvia 504 HOLD Spiritual vibes merging into a funky mi-70s philly jam. First label. Visual grade: VG to VG+ £55 Esko Wallace – Triple zero / I don’t think – Graham 802 R&B classic with appeal on the popcorn scene and a sure shot on the dance floor. Visual grade: VG £50 Debra Terrell – Just when I needed him / Instrumental – AFC 1001 Beautiful and totally obscure mid 80s ballad. Visual grade: EX £50 Jorge Darden – Alone again / Please don’t stop the music – Ladonia 1290 Moody downtempo funk with a jazzy edge. Beautiful tune. Visual grade: M-, slt warp NAP £50 The Nite Shift Band – Electric break / Thank you – Star Trax 408021 Crisp electro funk vocoder vibes. This one does not turn up very often. Visual grade: VG- to VG £50 Horizon – All star lover / Someone – Horizon 1205 Obscure east coast modern with a funky edge. Visual grade: VG £40 Don and Allyne Cole – Something got a hold of me / Poor fool – Son-Ray 101 Obscure male version of the Etta James classic that’s been gaining demand again because some dude sampled it and it got massive. Visual grade: VG+ £40 Odds Against Tomorrow – Point of no return Pt I/II – Sweet As 1001 Ohio sweet soul beauty. Not the cleanest copy by any means but plays through ok without slips. Visual grade: G £40 Jean Wells – With my love and what you’ve got / Ease away a little bit at a time – Calla 152 DJ Copy Funky edged dancer from the personal collection. Rare demo copy and one that doesn’t pop up too often in this condition. Visual grade: EX to M- £40 Vicki Anderson – In the land of milk and honey / I’ll work it out – Brownstone 4204 DJ Copy Cool sister funk, tough on a white demo. Visual grade: VG+ £40 The Night Riders – Girls in the city / Super lady – Eclipse 35451 Late 70s sweet soul with a funky flip. Very rare. Visual grade: M- £40 The Sensational Bethleham Spirituals – Jesus been good to me / Do you know Jesus – Abaros 82-25 Deep downbeat late 70s gospel cut from Detroit. Visual grade: VG £40 Mango – Senei Najo Mondele / Mango na mango no – Blue Elephant 24551 Phased out percussive flute breaks on this Belgian only 45 Visual grade: sleeve EX vinyl VG+ £40 The Halos – Come softly to me / He’s just too much – Congress 262 DJ Copy Female sixties northern with a Frank Wilson-esque intro. Visual grade: VG £35 Showcase – Evil ways / If – Spitfire 2173 Rare blue eyed grooves with an awesome percussive organ breakdown. Visual grade: VG £35 Mr. Percolator – Got a thing for you baby Pt I/II – Wax-Wel 002 Hard hitting funk. Plays very well. Visual grade: Strong VG £30 Barbara Green – Young boy / I should have treated you right – Vivid 64-059 Beaufitul popcorn oldie backed with an uptempo dancer. First label.
