Problems With Emails Being Sent From Site ?

What seems to have happenend is after the upgrade some people have had the "topic reply" subscription turned on

resulting in emails sent when a message is posted

(its a feature that users can choose to recieve an email whenever someone replies to a choosen topic/thread/post)

not sure how widespread this problem is

but thought post to avoid confusion and apoligises

if do have problems the help guide section is quoted below

This board can notify you when a new reply is added to a topic. Many users find this useful to keep up to date on topics without the need to view the board to check for new messages.

There are three ways to subscribe to a topic:

Click the 'Track This Topic' link at the top of the topic that you wish to track

On the posting screen when replying to or creating a topic, check the 'Enable email notification of replies?' checkbox

From the E-Mail settings section of your User CP (My Controls) check the 'Enable Email Notification by default?' option, this will automatically subscribe you to any topic that you make a reply to

Please note that to avoid multiple emails being sent to your email address, you will only get one e-mail for each topic you are subscribed to until the next time you visit the board.

You are also able to subscribe to each individual forum on the board, to be notified when a new topic is created in that particular forum. To enable this, click the 'Subscribe to this forum' link at the bottom of the forum that you wish to subscribe to.

To unsubscribe from any forums or topics that you are subscribed to - just go to the 'Subscriptions' section of 'My Controls' and you can do this from there.

Have you altered the default box to No email notification and then saved the settings Karen ?

it may be that causing probs if its just from that one

John got them from a different thread as well Mike - from threads that he has replied to. Notifys him when someone else responded.

have switched mine off, so if someone could reply to this

I am answering you back :) Mine stopped after I altered my setting yesterday Mike but I checked Janine and Karens and there's were set correctly; I just checked the box again. They'll let you know if they continue to receive mails. Just off to check on Johns.

I dont smell (karen and dave do though)

Still happening here mike, its from all parts of the forum, not a big problem really only takes seconds to delete the mails, just weird its us lot getting them LOL

yeah, lost meself

no reports from anyone who hasn't posted on sscdt makes me think its something to do with size of that thread ??

just in case can you start up a new part 3 and close 2nd down when got time

posted up how to clear all subs in sscdt

it should tell you what topics you are subscribed to

at top should see

in menu bar

Topic Replies Views Last Post

next to this line theres a empty square box

click so its ticked

go to bottom and hit the

"with selected box"

that should delete all the topics you are subscribed to

They stopped for a while at around 21:30 ish last night but i've just had a load in again :ohmy::D

have had a good dig and can't suss it yet

ask if you are having similar and have tried the above and still getting emails sent, please post up here

John if its still happening on your work addy, make SS a blocked user so you dont get a rollicking from your IT dept !

Same problem here Mike.

It seems sscdt pt3 started generating e-mail notifications.

Just switched them off. Sscdt pt2 was the same setting as last night (switched off).

I'll see what happens.

Here's the last one i got, they don't seem to follow much of a pattern and are not from sscdt!!!

BTW i never use the get new post facility either if that's any help??
