What was the cheapest record you regularly DJ'd with in 2016?

It’s fair to say that as members of the rare soul scene - rare generally means expensive comparatively speaking and you know we all love playing them rare bits n bats - so just out of idle curiosity what was the cheapest record you regularly DJ’d with in 2016 that gave you a warm inner glow as people obviously went for it.

When I say cheapest - it wasn’t aired to prove a point as such - but simply because it’s such a great sound everybody can afford. A tenner can still get you a copy today.

Betty Harris “I’m Evil Tonight” (Sansu) played most recently in the second room at Calverley. Next Crossover one Friday 6th January 2017.

Think Betty is also doing a live show at The Band On The Wall in Manchester in the next few months.

What a great question Derek, never consider myself as a big time DJ but I did a bit so apart from the records I got free like Buddy Smith Larry Wright and so on I played things like Hello Stranger The Capitals,  and The CODs Pretty Baby, songs that I think are equally as good if not so sort after 50 pence worth of soul

The CODs - A great tune Gilly (I spin it too)

Classic Stax spin from Mr Johnnie Taylor - Who's Making Love - and still cheaper than a portion of Chips!  :hatsoff2:

yeah, I play this in my DJ sets in the US, I'll also play Sam and Dave - I Thank You, Otis Redding - Satisfaction and Demonstration, all crowd pleasers and not done to death like other songs by those artists.

Also check out the David Ruffin version of "No matter whhere". A bit more of a dancer in my opinion.

Here's one I have played regularly this year.

Like both versions Chris, but G C Cameron, absolutely rocks the right room, something happens between needle, mixer n dance floor, that turns it into something magnificent which doesnt happen at home or thru the PC Speakers, been a standard for me for over a year now after hearing Jordi drop it n it never fails mate....
