  • Might get scolded for posting this.    I dont care! I've always loved this record since I began my personal journey into soul music. It's beautiful and so is the video in so many ways.

My first of this excellent thread ... Vibe-Creators 'I don't wanna be lonely' , surprisingly imo this 2011 release is still under the radar for many ...

Bunny Sigler - For Cryin' Out Loud Decca

I've had this for years, and their other release on Optimum, both a little strange, but not bad to freak out to

I've got "That Girl" by them on Bell.I think that suffers from the same thing as this? The production is brilliant but the vocals are a bit iffy to my ears?Put a proper lead vocal on them & you'd have a couple of serious tunes imo.

Isn't Lady Sunshine on the flip on Bell? I agree with you there, both records could have been improved with a stronger vocal lead.  "I've got soul" is weird hippie funk, strange as hell, the flute is too much, by far.

Yep that's alright Dave. New to me.

I've owned it for years Peter and had completely forgotten about it, just going through some old email recently and there it was, so I looked it up on YouTube, and I've listened to it everyday since.

Last one from me for tonight as I have to walk the dog, and it's raining, not that that is a problem, just a rarity here.  One I may take to Hitsville in September for the last day.

There's some fabulous tunes about, you just need to be in the right mind set when you first hear them, and then take a risk.

This at the other end of the spectrum, nice easy going stuff for those not in a rush.

It's the bass-line and snare Martyn, similar for a while and then off at tangents.

Dave

You should get to the 100 Club more often, they give away some wonderful tracks on the anniversary singles

Well, I threatened you with some disco tonight - the night is still young! So, a bit of a change of plan - going to kick off with a Kim Weston track which had its first release on a compilation back in 2005 - or there abouts.

Fancy Meeting You Here - absolutely stunning. Lyrics, vocals, and arrangement - beautiful.

Ave it and turn it up. It's Friday!

The last time I even mentioned this record I got hammered from every direction. But, back in the day, if you were a dancer on fuel, this was some dance record. Trust me, I was that man - well one of em, and we loved it.

Annis - Don't Play Your Games.

Sending this out to Martyn - can you find them dungarees and sandals?

The Delegation - Honey. You got to play it loud or it dont work!

I'll be there next month, then again in September, my only two visits to the UK.  I have all the anniversary singles and close to a second full set, a few spares too.

Dave

Here's a bit of disco for Peter & it won't be in my playbox for tonight

The spares are at my father's place in Lincolnshire so I'll have a look see when I get there if you like, I know I wouldn't have paid much for them, I'm too mean.

Dave

One that's definitely in the box for tonight.

I can't promise Martyn, but you never know, I had a spate of buying the anniversary singles as often as I saw them knowing the prices would rise, got most for less than £50, some for less than a tenner.

Dave

Another little beauty, took this to Hitsville, but don't think I played it

last one before my coffee and off to work, a funky flip that deserves an airing...
