Should hopefully giive me something to read when I get back tomorrow though! So, people who sell on here and on other sites: Is there any real point in writing things like "No time wasters please" ? Has anyone ever consciously thought "hmmm, better not reserve that then, as I have no intention of paying" The other popular one is "Realistic offers only." What's a realistic offer? If it means you want at least what you paid for it, then give us a clue. On the other hand if it means you won't take less than, say, two hundred pounds - why not say so? Thoughts anyone? Godz

The other one I always get when asking for 'offers' are e-mails asking how much I want for an item. If I wanted to state a price I would have done so in the first place. Of course everyone is open to state their own trems and conditions, but those are mine!

Time wasters,who`s time just ignore em`,or reply "NO",how hard is that,or is that to much for ya`,i know i have offered £20s for £30 records,no big deal is it ,now have you got a copy of the french fry`s,£20 or less,and dont waist my time.

paultp Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 If someone asks for offers and doesn't get offered the price they wanted, then who is being unrealistic? Why not say what they want? Are they hoping someone offers more than they think it is worth? I've made offers on records listed with no prices in the sales section a few times, quite often the "seller" doesn't even respond. If they said "that's too low, what about £x" then at least you would have the opportunity to negotiate. You've got to question whether they really want to sell the records or whether they are just trying to find out what their records are worth if they wanted to sell. If you ask for offers then obviously people are often going to start below what they are actually willing to pay. If you have an unrealistic expectation of the price you are going to acheive then you'll never get the offer you want. Anyway, I've stopped buying for the moment as I expect prices to drop in the next 6 months as the interest rate rises and the housing market crashes
Guest woolie mark Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Time wasters,who`s time just ignore em`,or reply "NO",how hard is that,or is that to much for ya`,i know i have offered £20s for £30 records,no big deal is it ,now have you got a copy of the french fry`s,£20 or less,and dont waist my time. i agree with ken if nobody offered more than £30....then nobody wants to buy it for more than that (on this forum), so the demands not there to sustain the "book price" imho personally, i think it's some of the sellers who are the time wasters - many a time i have seen something i'd like to buy but the prices asked are, imho, daft and based on some silly auction-close or what has been "seen on other lists" maybe we should have a section for sales headed something like "i'm not really seriously trying to sell these records but if you offer me twice what it's worth, it's yours - provided you also pay extra for postage at double what that really costs too" btw, i just want to make it clear that any resemblence in this post to persons either living or dead is entirely co-incidental - particularly if i'm currently trying to negotiate a purchase price with you for a record!
Guest Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 well I now know never to email noss asking him what he wants for a record then! to me a timewaster is someone who asks for a record in wants, you get in touch and even leave it to them to give a price - and then they don't get back in touch! But then bump up there want at a later date or, you get the - "yeah I'll have that" you organise how to pay, who to pay etc - and it never happens anyway, I may put up a list off "make me an offer" sales today - I've sorted some stuff for ebay, but tend to put em on here first. should I put no timewasters, or some other suggestion......

This is what I've been saying for ages Mark (see also post called Crazy Set Sale Prices). It's as if some people don't want to sell the records but just want to show them off.
Guest dundeedavie Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 to be honest i don't even look at "offers" on lists .... i want to see a price then decide if i want to pay it or not . the only time offers sould be requested is if the seller has no idea what the record is worth
