This chap had just landed halfway up the cliff face in Dover Kent to enjoy the lunch that he had just caught. Not as sharp as I'd like but I was shooting hand held 70 - 200mm (fortunately f4 not the twice as heavy f2.8) looking upwards & being blown around by very strong winds !

I know nothing about birds so can anyone tell me what this is ?

Thanks

Dave

Dave. Russell. Beat me to. its  a Kestrel. Nice picture by the way

Definitely need to go on the weights. I own 70 -200 f2.8L is usm mk 2. Hand held.  Don't even know that I'm using it.

I normally lug round a 500mm f4 L is usm mk2. Even that's ok for a few hours

Thanks Steve  hope you're well.

haha you're probably right mate but doubt I'd be able to pick up the bar let alone the weights :D

I do use it hand held though prefer to stick it on a tripod when able to, think it was the wind blowing as much as anything & being on uneven footing at the base of the cliffs ................ that's my excuse anyway.

I'm good thanks mate. :D

Hopefully your keeping well. :hatsoff2: I would be more worried about the cliff falling on me in the strong winds.  or damaging my camera and lenses

Did you manage to get Carol to spoil you mate ? I wanted to be there over knight but apparently that's still illegal in Ludlow. You started it :g:

I see them flying in formation here in the winter, pretty spectacular it is too, don't have geese here but these look just as good.
