Philly Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 (edited) Can anyone give me some info on this 45 I have, it is not the same as the issues I have been looking at.. it is misspelled with different number, it does have markings in the deadwax, but I can't really see what, (need glasses) thanks Edited December 27, 2016 by Philly
Garethx Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 That is a local, Miami pressed Alston issue. It was subsequently picked up and nationally distributed by Atco/Atlantic. The nationally distributed copies have the title as "Monkey Tamarind". Should be on vinyl with moulded-in label—styrene 45s never have moulded-in labels. I don't think it being a local issue makes it any more or less valuable than the nationally-distributed copies. There are a few Alston releases which were local only and some of these can be quite collectable. 2

Thanks Gareth, I meant to put vinyl not styrene.. other thing that puzzles me are the numbers, 313A the flip is 314B
Chas Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Oh dear! Hope that by selecting the red arrow down icon I haven't disrespected anyone, but as an aside when I saw the Alston logo it got me thinking about the movie 'the music man' which focused on Henry Stone, his label's and the Miami scene at that time,it was due out last year but seems to have sank without trace.Anyone throw any light on it?
