Cleaned one on a record cleaning machine using soap based cleaning fluid and with its vacuum pickup clean it did pretty good. Tried alcohol, based one on a completely knackered one and it went all hazel and distorted the sound even further.

soap based and dried doesn't seem to effect the quality except for the better by the dirt removal IMHO.

Happy Christmas All.

Lint free soft cotton cloth (a square cut from a clean T shirt).Wet it (with distilled water if possible) wring the water out and give it a firm wipe going along the grooves not across. Sometimes a drop of Fairy liquid in the water will shift stubborn shit. Don't be afraid to rinse under the cold tap either, that won't hurt. Whatever you do, don't use solvents as they will melt the lacquer and ruin the disc. try to keep labels dry as well. Hope this helps.
