clevesoulie Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Just got done viewing a YouTube video of "She Put the Hurt on Me" by Trade Martin, and I couldn't help but notice that Jimmy Roach co-wrote the tune. This begs the question...are there any other versions of the tune besides Trade's and the Shirelles' version ("You Could Be My Remedy"). I'm assuming that, since Jimmy got around a lot in those days, that there was some other artist he worked for who cut the song. What's really odd...I unfriended Trade on Facebook due to some comments he made that seemed somewhat racist. Around the same time, I added Jimmy as a friend! And here is a record with both their names on it! Best, Mark
Thinksmart Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 (edited) Original Prince La La version is great in that loose New Orleans early R&B way. Spencer Davis Group and Otis Redding both did strong versions too. Edited December 18, 2016 by ThinkSmart

Can't remember the name at the moment

clevesoulie Posted December 18, 2016 Author Posted December 18, 2016 The Prince La La song is different...great song, though! Best, Mark
clevesoulie Posted December 18, 2016 Author Posted December 18, 2016 Otis's version is yet another different song with the same title. Spencer's is a remake of Prince La La. Best, Mark
Andyf Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 The one I was thinking of was the Luvs on Stallion. The backing track is similar, but not identical. 1
