Dave Thorley Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Hi all Found this nice LP by Sam and Bob (Sam Mosley and Bob Johnson) out of the deep south. On it is a really nice track by Doris Badie, called "Why is leaving you so hard to do", someone somewhere said it had come out as a single. Anyone know of it or anymore info Bob and Sam. Dave

Dave Hi Dave, Came out on Polydor 14401 in 1977 (c/w "I Get What I Want"). t Mosley and Johnson also had a release on Polydor at the same time (previous number, in fact) under the group name "Mojoba" , which you might be rather more familiar with! MoJoBa actually had two singles on Polydor: 14359 - Disco Music/Keep the Funk Flowin' (sounds like a right winner, that one!) 14400 - I Know/Say You Will (valued in JM at £400.00) ...know which one I'd prefer to own. The album and 7 inch cut of the Doris Badie are different versions. And "Disco music" with Mojoba is better than the title suggest. My question - how did Curtis Mayfield and Richard Tufo end up releasing New World "Help the man / We're gonna make it" on Polydor?

No, I know what you mean, Karl. There are many good records that are forever dismissed or damned for having the word "Disco" in the title. Personally I' ve always liked the 3rd World Band's "Disco Hop" (Abraxas) and, of course, Johnnie Taylor's "Disco Lady" will always be a fantastic record... TONE
