Then my usual selection including the Ringleaders (already discussed here)... WHAT CAN I DO WITHOUT THIS FORUM...??? Roccia P.S. For the first time in my life I'll play a record under C/U... And the people aren't full of their own self importance banging on about how exclusive or rare everything is Plus, en route, you can go and worship at the old casionnnoooo Station Rd site if you're so inclined I know Steve Cato did last time he was down....
Guest chorleybloke Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Bobbettes - nice choice Tony, also played on t'uther side of the world. First time I've heard anyone else mention it, a 'proper' NS dancer. I keep trying to break the Versatones "With A Broken Heart" on Magic City but its hard yards. Reckon it would make my top 20. Cheers Pete Down Under OK I'll stick me toe in. Not claiming these to be Rarest of the rare or most upfront ever, but they deserve airing and will be played at Heywood. Back to the thread, personally, new (old) stuff wise, just got a couple of tasty new CD's from David Ruffin & Eddie Kendricks which have just been released on CD by Motown via Hip-O-Select in the US. There's approx 20 previously unreleased tracks on them circa '69-'72 and they sound a bit tasty. Not decided which to go with yet (only got them today and have only quickly skimmed them - one's a double and the other a treble CD) but will certainly be giving something off them a spin. If there's owt as good as the 'Four Tops - Clip my wings' or 'David Ruffin - I won't be hurt anymore' from the last batch of Motown/Hip-O-Select offerings we'll be all in for a treat Hope this is the sort of thing you're looking for in this thread? Cheers Steve

Citizen P Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Killer tune that Aretha.......... TJ dropped it at last Orwell too, sounded ace Looking forward to hearing Mike tonight Cheers Steve Written By Curtis Mayfield, performed by Aretha--don't get much better, gotta feel of Jazz Freak-- Paullette Reeves doncha think??? Another 1 well worthy of mention, which I've been playing for a while (Thanks to Rick Warburton for the tip),and will be next week, is yet another Gem from the pen of Van McCoy. No Trespassin'---Faith, Hope and Charity-- which if you don't know it bears a similarity to The Ad Libs-- Nothing worse than Being Alone. This deserves some serious action. ATB Tony
