Guest JackieD Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Due to recent bereavement I am forced to start selling a record collection. I currently have 500 northern soul (I believe) records on sale. Unfortunately I don't have a list of individual records, but general picture of records below. I am only looking for sensible offers. Thanks. Jackie
Davidc Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 H i what sort of price are you looking for as just starting out buying , thanks david
Guest JackieD Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Around £4,000 to £5,000 mark. But as say open to sensible offers.
Illusive Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Hi Jackie Sorry to hear about your loss, but if you realistically hope to achieve that kind of price for the records you're gonna need to list them as I can't imagine anyone on here is gonna by 500 records blind for that price without any indication of what's in the box.
Davidc Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Sounds fair for that many records , have to say way out of my deeps lol but hope you get it ,

Popular Post dthedrug Posted December 9, 2016 Popular Post Posted December 9, 2016 Hi Jackie Please be careful, as many people get mugged by te nicest people, get yourself a price guide to get some idea of what you have, make a list of records valued £50+ and scan a few to show people on SOULSOURCE, this is a safe site so any feedback should help, you could always take them to a record fair, However find out what you got, good luck , 5
Okehdownsouth Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Hi Jackie Where in the country are you? Could I come and take a look? I am not a dealer, just a collector and If O do not buy them I would happily put you in touch with an honest dealer who would help you get the best price thanks Paul 1
Steviehay Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 I've sold him just recently Lee David wd ,mickey moonshine demo plus about 8 70s boots so this is a fair price of what to expect in this collection I am still in shock about John's passing away 1
Kegsy Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 (edited) You could try looking on Discogs to establish what you have and the value, it has listings that include originals, legal issues/reissues and bootlegs, most listings include pictures. Although its not as comprehensive as a John Manship guide it may give you an idea to start with. As has been said the original/bootleg/repress questions will be the hardest to answer but Discogs may give you an idea of original/re-issue/value etc. Discogs is quite easy to use once you get used to it, plus you can see what people are selling stuff for. Obviously record condition is important and can also be a bit of a minefield, but there are also guidelines on how to grade records. Good Luck. Edited December 9, 2016 by Kegsy 1
Steve Foran Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Or try Popsike for values as a guide. Personally I would contact Pete Smith. 2

Samplat Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Yes Pete would be fair but I don't think he bothers with soul source any more
Daveoceans Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Pete Smith the best and fairest by far 1
